OK, now that I've grabbed your attention, I was thinking - over the last ten years, if Alan Pardew was going to be assembling 9 teams, who would make the cut? I have way too much time on my hands (work), but I think you might be pleasantly surprised to see where people like Michael Owen have ended up. Come to think of it, the last decade has been largely dark, and using these 99 players, it's clear to see how much dross we've employed at the club. Notable exceptions include Nile Ringer, Xisco and Ronnie Johnsen.

Now, I'm not expecting you to do this yourself (you all have lives, I'm sure), but just have a quick glance and let me know which players you do/don't agree with. Tis a game of opinions! So, here we go...

    1) Shay Given, Davide Santon, Fabricio Coloccini, Jonathan Woodgate, Jose Enrique, Hatem Ben Arfa, Cheik Tiote, Yohan Cabaye, Nobby Solano, Papiss Cisse, Alan Shearer

    2) Tim Krul, Habib Beye, Steven Taylor, Seb Bassong, Olivier Bernard, Laurent Robert, Gary Speed, Kieron Dyer, Jonas Gutierrez, Demba Ba, Craig Bellamy

    3) Steve Harper, Danny Simpson, Abdoulaye Faye, Mike Williamson, Shane Ferguson, James Milner, Joey Barton, Scott Parker, Charles N’Zogbia, Kevin Nolan, Andy Carroll

    4) Fraser Forster, Aaron Hughes, Titus Bramble, James Perch, Patrick van Aarnholt, Lee Bowyer, Nicky Butt, Jermaine Jenas, Michael Owen, Shola Ameobi, Obafemi Martins

    5) Pavel Srnicek, Andy Griffin, Andy O’Brien, Oguchi Onyewu, Vernon Anita, Damien Duff, Danny Guthrie, Emre, Ryan Taylor, Peter Lovenkrands, Leon Best

    6) Stephen Carr, Robbie Elliot, Nikos Dabizaz, Paul Huntington, Wayne Routledge, Hugo Viana, Gael Bigirimana, Gabriel Obertan, Mark Viduka, Patrick Kluivert

    7) Sodenberg, David Edgar, Fitz Hall, Steven Caldwell, Celestine Babayaro, Sylvain Marveaux, Lee Clark, Darren Ambrose, Albert Luque, Lomano LuaLua, Antoine Sibierski

    8) Peter Ramage, Cacapa, Craig Moore, Ben Tozer, Sammy Ameobi, Haris Vuckic, Dan Gosling, Kazenga LuaLua, Michael Chopra, Giueseppe Rossi

    9) Tamas Kadar, Jean-Alain Boumsong, David Rozehnal, Lamine Diatta, Fabrice Pancrate, Amdy Faye, Matty Pattison, Alan O’Brien, Michael Bridges, Carl Cort

And yes, I did run out of goalkeepers.

Those top 3 teams are all top half material, with team 1 probably good enough to be title contenders!

Tony Caig could be a keeper for one of the last two.

3 'keepers to fill in the blanks would be: Shaka Hislop, John Karelse and of course Rob Elliot....obviously scraping the barrel with Karelse and it would be more beneficial to include Jak Alnwick.

A lot also goes on opinions of who would work better together as a team as i'm not convinced about pairing Cisse and Shearer...I think off pitch differences aside Shearer and Bellamy worked amazingly well together. I'd like to see Warren 'Centre-parton' Barton in there as well if for nothing more than his hard work and effort for the cause over the years despite a total and utter lack of skill to back it up ;)

Team 1 would probably give the title a run for it's money having all of those players fit and at their peak - can't see many goals being leaked with a central defence of Woody and Colo thats for sure!

Other potential players are Diego Gavilan and Michael Chopra.

I'd also put team 5's midfield in team 4 (Emre Anita Guthrie for Bowyer Butt Dyer), and Raylor for Van Aanholt
