Who'd you offload? Personally, I'd get rid off: Gervino Ramsey Santos Squilachi Arshavin Chamakh Denilson (on loan, no return to club) Bendtner (on loan, no return to club) Park (on loan, no return to club) Fabianski or Mannone, either one would do Rosicky (love the guy, but he's just too injury prone, we need to be ruthless, can't get anywhere if we're doing everything on sentimentality) Diaby (great player, but can't go on any longer like this, injured more than playing) Djoure That's 13 players, getting rid of all those players will greatly free up our wage bill, and will allow us to bring in top quality world class players, as well as promoting some youngsters from the team. With 13 players going out, we can sign and bring in 4-5 top quality players, and promote another 4-5 youngsters up to the first team, the likes of Miguel, Gnarby, Eisfield, and it would give more opportunities to players like Frimpong and Coquelan. But **** me, looking at that list is really frightening, because we have a **** load of average players at this club.
Isn't promoting from within the thing that's hampered this club? Selling 13 first team players and promoting youngsters just sets us back again.
Not as easy as just 'getting rid' though is it? They'll be on good wages in comparison to who will come in for them.
A) We signed Judas as a first teamer B) We signed Cesc from Barcelona, we didn't really develop him much C) Bolton can take some credit for the way Wilshere turned out.
He actually got a 2 year extension. http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/football/892842-tomas-rosicky-signs-new-contract-at-arsenal
what the ****, ****ing hell, that's even more annoying, we've had this policy of only granting over 30 year old players 1 year extensions, now we decide to give him a 2 year extension???? in all respect to Rosicky, he was amazing when he got that extension, but what made us change the policy all of a sudden, and decide to say hey now we grant 2 year extensions, especially when the player in Q is injury prone.
Maybe because he was one of the main reasons we got 4th. Of not for Rosicky's revival we wouldn't be in the iChampions League.
A) Most of his first season was on the bench. B) Cesc almost certainly would not be the player he is today if he had stayed at Barcelona rather than join Arsenal. C) Bolton can take some credit for his development over one season, yet you say say we can't for 8 years with Cesc? Doesn't make much sense.
Yep, sadly the real world is not like FIFA. Players like Chamakh, Bendtner, Squillaci, Park etc. wouldn't be here anymore if ther weren't on ridiculously high wages. Squillaci belongs to the high earners in the club, that's how you can tell that there are flaws in our wage structure. I wouldn't mind seeing the 13 which the OP has listed leave the club, but you can't change the team too quickly. And it will take time for another new team/squad to gel.
I still have faith in Ramsey, Gervinho is annoying (to put it mildly), but can be effective, and Santos is good as back up.
Santos, what on earth are they doing with him? Does he even train? The guy always looks f--king tired on the pitch!
