Still not convinced yet, I thought he was clueless before he came, but gave him a clean slate. Has done some really impressive things and some really mind boggling things, swaying more to impressive though. He's got his hands tied at the moment with injuries so can't really make a fair judgement til at least the end of the season, so lets see how it goes. But before us, thought he did well everywhere bar Sunderland, the resources and players he had at his exposal I think he really should have done alot better, and the best moment, being scared of Peterboroughs attacking flair in the cup last season and setting up a defensive 4-5-1 that was probably one of the ****test games of football ever to be played.
I'm not fully convinced, however I have to say I'm swayed more to saying he's a great manager. We've lost our 2 season long tag as the 'Divisions lowest scorers', we're playing entertaining football at the Circle again, we've had some brilliant signings such as Quinn, Aluko and Elmo, and we're still up there. However, defensively we've been very, very inconsistent. I actually enjoy listening to his interviews; he sounds as though he knows what fans want, he knows where the Club needs and aims to be, he doesn't shut the fans out like ol' flat top did and he actually doesn't sound as though he would rather be anywhere than talking to the interviewer. I want to wait 'till we have our injured players back and see how our full strength side will muster. I suppose the defensive injuries have delayed us being as formidable a force as he'd hoped. But so far I am delighted that he's our Manager.
Fooking hell he's a breath of fresh air after the likes of that miserable twat Nigel Pearson. Says it as it is and our attcaking play is the best I can recall for many a year particularly at this level. He is also still finding out about his players. He was true to his word in giving Mclean and Prostwich their starts after doing so well on Sat but will probably have regretted it - that said games coming thick and fast and this is a killer league and he know that the whole of the squad needs to be used. Injuries to the likes of Dudgeon Koren and Fryatt (even though he's not started a league game) has slowed our momentum - we've had three tough midweek games away to date Blackburn L**ds and now Boro. There is little recovery time even though its the same for all Clubs. I still feel however that we lack a real enforcer in the midfield - a player like Palacios with PL pedigree would be a major asset in grabbing at least a playoff place this season - in the same way that extra quality such as Okocha and Henrik Pedersen gave us in 07-08. Otherwise we're gonna struggle with the relentless Sat Tues Sat that comes with the Chamiopnship particularly in the cold dark winter months.
Upto now I,m impressed with his post match interveiws comes across as reasonably honest, and dosent shirk Burnsies questions like a few of his predecessors did. Admitted he may have got it wrong tonight leaving Aluko on the bench, if he can keep doing what he,s doing, it should be a good season when the injury situation inproves and we can kick on a bit. All in all reasonably happy
Bruce tells it as it is - if we play badly he says so and doesn't pull his punches. He is a honest manager who knows where he wants to take the team
Sven was like that too. But at the end of the day, isn't it his job to make sure you don't play poorly?
I've been impressed with him to be fair, except for tonight. Starting line-up was nowhere near as strong as it possibly could have been and I thought the first sub was a complete cock up. Should have been McKenna going off, so Quinn could move into the middle and put Aluko at left wing surely? Not let's take the only aerial threat we have off! Plus I bloody hated that goal music -.-
All in all I'm pleased with how the club is going but I would like him to keep knocking on the Allams' door as we need a couple of reinforcements if we are serious about promotion this season
Yes indeed he will be with Nigel Pearson stood right behind him. ++++++++++ Overall SB has done very well all things considered. But last night his team selection was as poor as the game. Thankfully another game in 3 days time. Hope his team selection is better on saturday.
4 defeats in 6 games! That's fact, I'm sure we've had better managers than that........ That guy at Lester, now he's a good manager ???
It's a good job 15 contracts are up in the summer, SB can clear out and get his own players in, some of what he's inherited are clearly not up to the task ..
