Bold prediction, not to be confused with match prediction....McNaughton to get a goal tonight, maybe a brace, but not a few...that would be to many, induce much shouty! TEAM NEWS Cardiff striker Craig Bellamy is expected to return to action for the first time since early October after recovering from a knee problem. Manager Malky Mackay's options are also likely to be boosted with the return of Jordan Mutch following a foot injury. Watford are again without skipper John Eustace (back), Neuton (ankle) and Nyron Nosworthy (hamstring). Defender Joel Ekstrand (ankle) is also a major doubt and will be assessed ahead of the clash in south Wales. MATCH FACTS Head-to-head ⢠There's only one win between these clubs after 46 league meetings spanning 81 years; Cardiff have won 18, Watford 17. ⢠Both last season's meetings in the Championship were 1-1 draws. ⢠The 4-1 win at Vicarage Road in December 2010 is Watford's only triumph in nine Championship matches with the Bluebirds, and the Hornets have not taken maximum points off these opponents in Wales since September 2007. Cardiff City ⢠Saturday's 3-1 defeat away to Nottingham Forest, ended Cardiff's three-match winning sequence and saw them knocked off the top of the table. ⢠Victory for Malky Mackay's current side against his former club, will see the Bluebirds retain their 100% home league record and take their total of points under the current boss to 100. ⢠The club trailing leaders Leicester on goal difference, are two goals shy of conceding 2,500 in second level league football. Watford ⢠Watford have won three of the last four Championship games; their best form under current manager Gianfranco Zola. ⢠56 of the Hornets' 129 goal attempts were on target, which at 43.41% is the lowest proportion of accuracy in the division. ⢠If this game ends in a draw, the Vicarage Road club will then have gained 1,500 points in second tier soccer.
Congrats on another 3 points , yeates instead of Abdi what is franky doing, no forest or deeney either not happy 5-1 cardiff
Sounds like two ordinary sides, every chance of an equaliser in the second half, get that then a winner....easy!
Sounds like they have had enough possession, but not been a real threat on goal. Hope they sort themselves out in the second half.
Sorry win or no win! Very disappointed when we got Kimbo on the bench and we replace Smith with Gunner can't understand Malky!!!!
Not good enough, playing against 9 men for 20 minutes the game should have been put to bed much earlier. Will have to wait for what the lads who went say about the game but not overly impressed.
That was easy! Let's just accept a little bit of luck went our way tonight, maybe it's a lucky season!
I think that was our get out of jail free card tonight, without going into too much detail…..I thought it was a very frustrating game, we lacked tempo, and even when they were down to nine men, we did not exploit our numerical advantage until a last gasp goal. All credit to Watford, their defence seemed a lot more organised and composed, and to me they seemed to create the better openings, with Marshall making some key saves to deny them a second goal.. I think Malky needs to get the team into extra shooting practice, very relieved with the three points, but I am not sure I can take much more of that. I understand no team has a divine right to win any game in the championship but with twenty or so minutes left in a game the opposition down to nine men, and the quality and depth of our squad I thought we may do better than that. I don’t think Watford should be down hearted, if they perform like that week in week out they have as much of a chance as any for putting up a challenge to be in the top six; And I wish them all the best in the rest of the season. But come on Bluebirds, let’s starting winning some away fixtures and score and increase our shots to goals ratio.
Just got back. We were poor and got more than we deserved imo. Too many players off the mark. Too many wasted final balls and another piss poor scrappy goal to give away. Sometimes you have to win ugly but with due respect to the Hornets, a better side than Watford would have buried us tonight. Gutted for Tommy too. He was looking our most dangerous player in spells and I can only assume Whitts is getting ready to cover Huds who is now one yellow away from a suspension. Surprised to see Gunnar come on but glad he did. Respect to the Watford fans who were there too. I've stood through a few minutes silence tributes over the years but tonight felt a little eerie. Prob due to the circumstances surrounding it but the CCS was absolutely silent.
we werent at our best but who cares.......we kept plugging away, what a way to win a match, crowd was noisy, and we all went crazy when the goal went in, fantastic..............
I would like to thank the Watford fans along with Cardiff fans for exemplary circumstances! A credit to all football fans! It's had bad press but say this wont make the headlines!!!!!
3 points in the bag. Didnt play well and if we want promotion we must play better. Worryingly our best player on the night Tommy Smith looks set for a spell on the sidelines. I hope we dont see Cowie right wing on Saturday. Saying that he was one who performed well tonight. Final ball was poor far too often and Helgusson posed little threat. Bellamy injured again as well. Heard Leeds want Jerome. If hes available then pick up the phone Malky.
