A little moan on Bale, though am I being harsh?

I don't think anyone was happy with Bale missing the Chelsea game either. Somethings you just have to accept are their right to chose about though.

I'm old enough to think players taking off for the birth of children is a new-fangled modern thing which is, like all new things, to be resisted.

But actually I don't really blame Bale. He probably figures he'll be with his girlfriend all his life (charming thought, if lacking statistical validity) so he's better off getting in trouble with us than her.

I was glad AVB made the best of a bad job by sounding supportive. Spurs may still have Bale partly because Bale's family likes Spurs, so we may as well keep up the good relations.

Mumsnet tells me the date would have been 14/01/2012, and the result was 1-1 at home to Wolves. Bale got the assist.

as much as I love Spurs, immediate family will ALWAYS come first - not that I have kids or am planning to have.

Bale put his personal life first, and so he should. There are more important things than football, and Bale knows this and done the only thing any right thinking normal human being would do

For anyone to suggest otherwise is just being a totally selfish f*cking knobhead!!!!

Spurs fans on this forum and the old 606 in the past have always managed to surprise me with their opinions and also p*ss me off now and again - but this is an all time low!!!

So we lost the game!!!! Can anyone who is having a pop at GB's decision please tell me that his inclusion would have definitely changed the result. (The right answer here will be "NO", in case some of you need help)

Why is it being selfish to want a player to play for your club, in our biggest league game of the season, whose wages we contribute massively too? Oh I'm sorry, these footballers living the high life earning millions a year live such a hard life don't they?!

Perhaps you should leave the forum if we p*ss you off that much, rather than call people with an opinion a "kn*bhead".

And his inclusion COULD have changed the outcome of the game, we'll never know for sure but logic suggests having your best player in the side may help things! Hence why I made this topic, I'm not having a major pop at Bale, as Thor suggested though, Bale couldn't exactly do much by shooting up there. I don't think it would have hurt for him to have played 90 mins of football and then shot off. Could of even given us 45... Anytime with Bale on the pitch is going to help our team, especially against a massive club like Chelsea. I've said numerous times already family should come first but at the same time, the money these guys are on and the expectancy from thousands of people means at times they have to make some sacrifices, missing an extra hour an half of his partner being in labour is one I think Bale could've made.

Don't feel bad SoS,there was only one misery guts amongst a lot of laughs. It was a good thread which gave us some fun. Obviously Cockney has strong views and thinks everybody else is wrong whose opinions differ to those of his. There's a word for that so my advice is don't rise to it.

<ok> I don't feel bad though Thor, just can't be ars*d to deal with a poster like Cockney, who accuses fans of being kn*bheads on this forum and how we p*ss him off yet he's made something like 30 posts since Feb 2011... Barely been on here for anyone too p*ss him off! <laugh>
Thought this was a good thread too but I can appreciate it's a touchy subject. Most of the regs have said their say, all in good debate, suppose the thread doesn't need to be kept open now incase another one that we "p*ss off" too much feels the need to express their hate for us too. :D

.I think this site must be intellectually challenging for him if he's only made 30 posts since 2011. Yes you're right it is a touchy subject but Christ can't we discuss it as adults without resorting to words like kn*bhead? Semen comes out of the heads of our knobs and that's full of life as GB knows so I suppose we can take it as a compliment.<ok>

All time low? Re-read the thread and tell me if you still think this. Many of us are perfectly happy with his choice, and those that aren't are not having a pop, they just think he should have chose differently. Only a couple of old fogeys are seriously upset about it. Really no need to try and make an issue of it. The Chelsea board tried to yesterday and failed.

Bar the odd couple of comments, I think we had a sensible discussion about it...

Had Bale been a local lad born and bred in Tottenham, grew up with Tottenham on the brain 24/7 and then still missed this game I'd semi understand where you're coming from but to vilify him for wanting to see the birth of his first born is very harsh in my opinion. However, if I was a footballer, I'd time the birth better and try and aim for June or pre-season!

I'm honestly not being serious. Pissed off that my "Bale got the assist." didn't raise a smile. He assisted; his missus did the rest... nevermind.

    I do.

Bale's choice is his own and I know from experience he'll look back in ten years time with very small memories of the event. With the piss, ****, blood, tears, sweat, swearing and pain - well, these are things you put to the back of your mind, unlike scoring the winning goal against Chelsea, which I would relive over and over again.

Yeah, because you're a spurs fan. Bale is Welsh and I doubt he cares about that as much as you do. Scoring a winning goal against Chelsea will be the same as scoring the winning goal against any other good side to him.
