Whilst our play yesterday was excellent in part, there were still - in my view - major concerns Yes - statistics show that we had 55%, but as Swansea showed last year, a lot of this was backwards / sideways passing when we really needed to be driving forward. Fully accept that front players need to be making runs / space for this to be effective, but for much of the time when we were playing against 10 our players looked to be playing for a draw rather than the much needed 3 points Not enough attempts on goal! With only 6 attempts on target at home, is this really good enough (rhetorical question!)? Yes, one outstanding save to keep us from scoring a second, but our forward line isn't cutting it. Against a back four that was winning virtually everything in the air, I couldn't understand why we persisted in lifting up to Zamora so often Unfortunately yesterday's strong showing in midfield was yet again undone by poor defending and the lack of cutting edge up front. Until Hughes gets an improvement in both of these I fear we will have a long hard struggle That said it won't stop me from attending every match!!
As much as I don't think it will work out for Hughes I will take him any day over The Grim Reaper Alex "Hi honey I'm home) Mcleish.
Like it or like it not results count If we don't stay up this season I'm convinced that we'll see massive and unwelcome changes next year as TF / investors will be unable / unwilling to sustain the current level of losses while marooned in the second tier. As we've seen before, quality players will leave, with the overpaid benchwarmers remaining, half of which will not be up for Championship football Survival is crucial and every poor result makes life even tougher - we can't rely on Peter Crouch falling over in the penalty box to save us this season So if it means a change of manager then so be it
Hadn't realised it was that good tbh. He took over when we were in a stronger position than we are today though. Not great at maths but would that points percentage rate (29% of available) keep us up from where we are now? Anyone?
Think there are 30 more games with 90 points available. With a points % of 29,5% that would give us 27 more points, a total of 30 for the season, and almost certainly relegation.
I do now! Just been on the calculator... 29% of 90 points remaining gives us 26 points which added to our present 3 makes a total of 29 points to the end of the season. Of course that's generous as on this season's win rate (3 points out of an available 24) we would have 11 points plus our present 3 for a total of 14... TF's an accountant, the numbers don't add up.
Well if you truly believe we will only get 29 or 30 points fill your boots with the bookies. I won't be wasting my money on it though
Never suggested we are heading that number of points this season nor that we are destined for relegation. As for the bookies our odds are far from the worst, only 9/5 to go down: http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/premier-league/relegation
CCJ in a league of 20 we are 20th. That rock bottom in my book. If GD somehow changes the perspective in your eyes then I respect your opinion on that
...and you obviously missed mine. what do you mean by ´hardly rock bottom´ forgive me but is there another team below us???
I disagree a bit on those next manager to get the sack odds though. Very little value to be had in those markets generally. I think they mug punters off with those sometimes.
