My beef with most of your threads is that you state opinion as fact then get all pissy when you're called on it. IF Nige was offered the Liverpool job and IF he took it it MIGHT be an act of disloyalty. It might also be the right career choice for him & the right time for us to change things managerially.

No I put my balls on the line and don't cop out with caveats and words like might or possibly , most do as it covers their arses .

So you don't think he would go if offered ?

What's this, "Pointless Argument of the Year"? Whether or not NA would go to Liverpool is hardly an issue right now. Whether he's given the chance to put things right at Saints is another matter. I hope he is, because it's only in adversity you get to see the true qualities of a person. I sincerely hope and believe that Nige has a backbone to go with the positivity and vision he's already shown, as apart from anything else, I don't see any viable alternative out there anyway.

Great Post. I do believe we should at least stick with NA up to January, but if you were to sack Adkins who would you replace him with? There ARE not many managers available?
    - Harry Redknapp
    - Alan Curbishley
    - Mick McCarthy
    - Alan Shearer?
    - Hoddle
Some of these are been there done it managers but i dont really want 'Arry
Or we could go for a high profile continental manager such as
    - Benitez
    - Guillit
    - Vialli
    - Houllier

So from that list i think at the moment i would rather have NA at helm so i think we should stay how things are i believe he will turn it around (i hope)

We could stick not stick with him until January as that not give a possible manager enoug time to make his stamp on the team , early December so he can access what needs to change in the run up to the window .

    1) A class goalkeeper
    2) Two class premiership class centre backs .
    3) A left back with premiership class .

    Bare minimum .

The manager would have to have guile and cunning in the market and be able to naturally inspire the players .
Unpopular but Harry Redknapp is the only one for that , would he come ? Would we want him if it meant saving us ? Would Cortese handle being the number two ?

Some great post on this subject. Deffo stick with Nige. Must say never seen him like the interview so down. Totally agree though defenders constantly letting us down.
However the expression "you cant shine sh*t, springs to mind. Not saying the defence is sh*t but they just cant cope with the pressure of the prem league. League1 & championship was their level. They are good lads but just not good enough. Sunday will be the same. They will put in 100% but Lennon on the right,Bale bursting thru everywhere and the sharpness of Defoe. Jeeze its rediculous to think this defence will hold out. We will need to score at least 3 to get anything out of the game.

Well that's cheerd me up! Will take more than a couple of pints! They look poor at the back though and we can defo score against them. Dembele is out so they will lack a bit in midfield. We just have to get at them from the start!

An excellent post by the OP. Yes they do have some rational thinking posters on TSW, who let their emotions subside before putting together a view.

The one point I would take a bit of an issue would be where the OP suggests there is less than the sole control of Adkins in whatever he decides is the best formation for his team to play. Nigel informs Solent's Adam Blackmore that he takes sole responsibility, etc, etc, and after that Blackmore asks him about formations. Nigel gives a very minimalist answer. We're going to play 4-3-3.

Now this is where the viewer's opinion really takes hold. To me, that suggested that He, Nigel, was telling Blackmore that he took sole responsibility for the formation. It merely adds to his previous statement that he takes full responsibility. If Blackmore had asked about formations before Nigel said his big piece, I'm sure he would have mentioned formation as part of his responsibility.

There is no need to overturn stones, looking for worms here. There is a way that Nigel and Nicola want Saints to play and that's that. Currently, the defence personnel simply aren't playing well enough. They may indeed not be good enough. I don't know for sure.
Ironically, Saints lost to a club which, in the previous season, had totally compromised its long tradition of playing passing football, in order to achieve the objective of promotion. Many jeered Sam Allardyce's reliance on direct football, pushing aside the fans feelings for the West Ham way of playing. And yet Saints have a manager who is currently sticking by the principle of playing the way Southampton have always wanted to play, and are beginning to argue the case for change. We can't have it both ways here. Sometimes, we just have to support.
