Just been on a thread over there and I am gobsmacked to think they believe Bale should have put a game of footie above watching his new born baby come into the world. If this is true they don't deserve to have children. Or am I wrong ? I am a very devoted Chelsea fan but 'real' life is very much more important to me.
Angel--these sort of things will always happen when they get dumped , particularly on their own ground! We had to do without Capain Fantastic, but if things hadn't gone our way, I'd never have the nerve to use it as an excuse!
To be honest, I can understand their frustrations at Bale. I don't think they are being too unreasonable. HOWEVER!! I do understand Bale also. Imagine he did play and they still lost. I guess Spurs fans are thinking "IF ONLY"
I was watching the game with a United fan and he was absolutely disgusted at Bale for not playing because of that. He was quietly confident that 5pu1s would get something from the game, but the moment he heard the news he turned to me and told me that Chelsea would win. I remember Cech gave up witnessing the birth of his baby daughter in order to play for us in the League Cup semi-final away to Everton in 2008 in which he produced some very good saves and we ended up winning the game with a clean sheet and hence making it to the final. Maybe this will now backfire on him and his child will grow up as a Blue.
can understand why he would want to be there especially if its his first born how ever im one of the few people that doesnt buy his hype a few good games a seasons doesnt make you world class like the media want too paint him beating Scotland single handed is hardly an achievement worth shouting about these days when the mighty Lithuania can take points off them now .
I don't resent Bale for taking off. We missed Dembele more. We have various decent options on the left, but no one to properly replace Dembele. Huddlestone is a good passer, but he just isn't fast enough to avoid getting overrun in midfield.
Scary. I don't have children but I'm sure every Man dreams of seeing their first born and the anticipation of whether it'll be a boy/girl etc. To take that away from someone over a game of football is mad. I could understand people's frustrations if it were in a final or decisive game but there should nobody even mentioning it for a league game in the middle of October. Family > Anything Else
Are they the same players Levy said he would never sell? Oh but we have heard all that before haven't we
Levy certainly likes the charlie big potato act doesnt he i seem to remember him saying he would never sell Berbatov and he did the bloke claims must instill as much confidence in Spurs supporters as long johns pet parrot .
Family first....always. My opinion of Bale has gone up. He is definitely a very good player, and he has shown he has his priorities right. Anyone who would put a game of football in front of the birth of their child really needs to stand in front of a mirror for a few minutes. Strange that in the past, so many posters have the view that a death puts things in perspective, but don't feel that same way about a life.
Only circumstance I'd risk missing the birth of my kid is an extremely important game for Chelsea, you guys realise births takes about 12 hours....
As a parent, there is no comparison.... Again people forget, we are fans but to Bale its a job. Would you miss the birth of your child to attend a business meeting at work? There is nothing more important....EVER.....than being at the birth of your child, unless it's life or death and I am afraid a football match doesn't cut it......
When I started my OP there had been 7 posters on the Spurs thread, 4 of which were of the opinion he should have played, 1 said if it had been an important game he should have played. It just got me thinking.
