Just watched the highlights of yesterdays games and saw a player with X Factor he was absolutely brilliant his name was CHRIS TAYLOR playing for millwall .I have lookede him up and apparently he was signed on afree on a one year contract .He would make a very exciting aquistion to our squad and would cost peanuts.Love to know what you think have I lost my touch at finding new talent or not.I will probably write to NW and failing that Simon who does listen
Think it's the same guy who was at Oldham whilst we were in Lge 1: was a hot property @ that time, and there were rumours we were about to sign him. Not seen much of him @ Millwall, but i do think we need wide players. Aidy just doesn't do it for me. Prefer Boyd from Posh, though.
I think the problem with Aidy is that he needs a position to call his own, he is being used all over the place at the moment and he clearly isn't a player that can cope with that. On the other hand you have someone like Byram who continues to impress no matter where he is played, quite some talent we have there.
I remember him when Oldham played us at ER, he was outstanding then, i thought we were gonna sign him a few seasons ago, good player, is he on loan at the wallies?
Maybe Hall can fill that role. I really don't know what is going on at LUFC at the moment. We are spending money on players like it's about to go out of fashion. And we are linked with more - Jones and Jerome. Where is this money coming from? It seems ot be financially unsound at the moment, unless it is all the Snodgrass, Howson, Delph, Gradel, Clayton etc etc money plus £6m from GFH. But none of that is long-term money, which is needed to pay wages of permanent players. I am more concerned about our inability to run off the ball. See the way when Wednesday got the ball there were players running through up front and from midfield at all times? We don't seem to do any of that, and we haven't in years. Baffles me.
He went off early in that New year defeat, however the 1st home game of the following season he got both goals in a 2-0 win at Elland Road.
Ahh, couldn't agree more with our inability to run off the ball. That wednesday game was terrible, its not just the running off the ball though, there's so much missing in our attack. I think we are missing McCormack far too much, Tonge isn't a wide player for me either because he's not really concerned about getting into threatening positions and White doesn't do it for me either (although I do see him more as a winger than a defender). Becchio is the most useless player on the pitch when there is no service, Austin is more of a defensive player and when you play him with Brown we have no one attacking from the middle of the park, Norris didn't do too much going forward when he came on. Everyone knows my views on Diouf, he's there for himself and not the team IMO and watching the wednesday game confirmed that for me, that kinda rules out almost all of our threats. I'll give Warnock credit in creating a good strong defensive unit, and I think that defence is a good defence, but we will still concede goals unless we are able to keep possession of the ball and get the other team on the back foot more.
The goal we conceded at Wednesday had nothing to do with us not keeping possession, it came from a long throw straight to the head of Bothroyd. Very amateurish defending, you'd be hard pushed to see something as pathetic in park football. He hardly needed to get off the ground.
Yes, that was down to poor defending indeed (although one could argue that we were under a bit of pressure at this point because we couldn't keep the football further up). I actually don't think it was Pearce's fault, Pearce wasn't the man marking him, he came from deep and the guy marking Bothroyd didn't follow him and Pearce was blind to him. But constant pressure will cause defenders to make silly mistakes I think. As they say, they can't score if you have the ball
Josh, it was Peltier who lost his man. Yet again he was played out of position at LB, with specialist LB Drury on the bench. Not sure what's going on there. NW does seem to like his tinkering. Maybe he feels he needs to find a starting place for Peltier because he's captain.
Doesn't matter if he was playing out of position, it was a set piece (well, a throw-in but organised as if it were a set piece) and he is supposed to be very good in the air. Being played out of position is no excuse for that mistake. I am of the personal opinion, as much as I like Byram to drop him for Drury and Pelts back at RB or play Byram in the midfield. He's still too young to be playing week-in week-out and shouldn't be relied on so heavily. He has done well under the pressure in fairness though but I am seeing him starting to make mistakes and it'd be better for his confidence if he wasn't played so much imo
Must say I think that Peltier and White are out of place in this team its all about getting the right balance and these 2 make the teram wobble and stop continuity I would sell both of them
Peltier actually looked very good when he was covering CB earlier in the season so it seems like this is more of a positional problem. Agreed i would play Drury there but i trust Colin's reasons. Certainly think Peltier will still prove a valuable player.
Chris Taylor is turning into a very useful player im sure Kenny Jackett will get him on a long term contract very soon
He had to change his shirt and shorts with name and number on them as he spilt a bid of blood for the cause leeds60.
