if that ever happened, i think i'd fall off of my chair in hysterics. On that topic, (without changing this one from Modric) i do think we're going to need to bring in someone in that position, in January. if Dembele is out, we don't have a lot to choose from in terms of who can grab the game by the scruff of the neck and make a difference. Sig has the potential, but he's not hit the ground running just yet. anyhoo, back to RatFacePlattFace!!!
Jordey Clasie, the Dutch kid we've been linked to dubbed "the new Xavi" (because Dutch players don't have a history of being able to pass the ball around, do they?) could be that player - or, of course, we give Carroll or Pritchard a few games to prove themselves. Anyway, Modric could easily have been playing alongside Bale this season - by staying at Spurs. He would've started a lot more games, that's for sure...
If we can get £40million for Bale then its all good. He will go sooner or later to one of the bigger clubs and I'd much rather Madrid were tapping up our players than Chelsea or City.
i've never heard of him, or even realised we'd been linked to him. the only player i've heard of in recent weeks is that Patrick Herrmann chap at Borussia M'bach. Well modric is the latest case of "grass isn't always greener on the other side". but then again, I'm looking at that as a bloke who'd love to play football professionally, just for the game. - not the money. Modric is another one of the many players who are just happy to sit on a bench at a massive club wasting their career for money, and the ability to be able to say: "I play for [insert "massive" club]" sad really. but always will be to us fans who love the game.
You don't think you're being a tad premature? Modric has only been there 5 minutes and some people are already implying he has flopped
It's difficult to say that he's flopped, when he's hardly played. As has been said before, if he thought that he was going to Madrid to just walk into their starting X1, then he's a fool.
AsC...as mentioned before he was the same whilst playing for us...and as a Spurs fan you should have witnessed it during the Chelsea saga...however you think the sun shines out of his arse for the simple reason that he's Croation...I think the prejudice lies with you.
Was it his dream to : a) get paid over £120k per week? b) play regular league, CL and cup football? If it was a) then he's living his dream....if it was b) it's been a bad 3 months for him
i never said he's flopped. but he's got too much competition in his position. he'll never be a player who's on the team sheet week in, week out and he must have known that would be the case, before he signed. he will be on the bench alot, which is why it's sad.
He was linked a day or so ago. It makes sense, as Porto won't be saying Moutinho due to Hulk taking the Zenit payday (and Guarin heading to Inter), so we need to look elsewhere - and Bundesliga fees are becoming terribly inflated these days.
Modric's former side had a sell-on clause with us of 5%, I believe, so they had a vested interest in him moving. It would appear that he asked his mates to chip in too, judging by their constant flow of bollocks to the press. With regards to Bale, Real and Barca have both appeared to use their players as a mouthpiece for recent transfers, talking up moves for a variety of players without the possible action that tapping up could bring. Suker is a former Real player himself, so you can make of that what you will.
How can you say he will never be a regular? He has time on his side and his talents are indisputable. He would have to be pretty thick to assume he would jump straight into a Mourinho side which has for some time now been locked in a war of attrition with Barcelona, a side many experts claim is the finest ever to grace this planet. It's going to be a case of biding his time and proving his worth in training. The lad has always met and exceeded expectations placed on him by the media and rival fans. And I back him to do the same at Madrid. Only time will tell either way
Ahhh - just when I thought my dislike for Modric could go no lower... I sometimes visit his wiki page to see if he's scored...or assisted (OMG he's assisted A goal) - it amuses me.
Not seen anything of Clasie but all of what I've read has been positive, certainly wouldn't be against his addition to the team to challenge Dembele and Hudd for the CM place. Carroll impressed me in the EL games he got last season and Pritchard was a cut above in the Next Gen game I went to at the Lane vs Barca, though I think it's probably a season too early for them to be playing 2nd fiddle to Mousa if he gets injured, don't get me wrong I'm all for our youngsters progressing through and becoming Spurs 1st teamers/ squad players but I just don't think they're ready just yet, Prtichard especially as he hasn't even had a first team minute yet, has he? Both, in my opinion, definitely have a future at the club though, it's been a while where we (or I am anyway) can be excited about the potential of some of our academy prospects. Caulker, Townsend, Carroll, Luongo, Kane, Pritchard, Smith, Bentaleb, Falque and perhaps Byrne, Mason and Ceballos all have some form of future with us I think, ranging from first team regular to handy squad player providing they stick the time and effort in.
