Hhhmmmmm if it was England fans that had done that last night, you can be rest assured we would have the book thrown at us. Anyone else? Blatter would say he didn't see a problem with it.
Am i the only one in thinking that the way people react to racial abuse is discriminating against every other kind of abuse. It appears to me that when any one is racially abused the whole of the world is in a state of shock and disgust yet any other kind of abuse is accepted as part of football. Now in no way am i condoning what happened last night but rose shouldn't of reacted as it was always going to cause an incident in an already fiery atmosphere. My question is, why does racial abuse get special treatment over any other kind of abuse?
Their former political leaders are being tried and found guilty of genocide. Monkey chants at football games are just the tip of a very big problem in Serbia. Who was that scuffle between by the tunnel? It looked like managers and coaches, I couldn't tell.
Thoughtful comment. If one can put aside the historic reasons for a moment, in my opinion, it is because everyone is onside on racist abuse. On xenophobia, there is still the occasional chuckle in the background. If a person is too fat, too thin, is disfigured, is bald, has the wrong hair colour, is tattooed, isn't tattooed, an amputee, is gay, and for a thousand other reasons to extract humour, which can turn bad; there are still people in the background who will think it's worth a laugh or indeed a fight. Racist abuse is the only one [I can think of] where people, certainly in the UK, are united in their condemnation. And even then, there are a few people in this country who'd be willing to trot out racist abuse if they could find someone who'd listen. It shouldn't be tolerated, but then neither should any other abuse.
You could say that was a man hug and kiss on the forehead ;-) As Blatter had stated they should just shake hands and everything will be OK. I cannot see rightful justice being done, only token justice There is a need for a Kick Racism out of Football campaign in Serbia, but it will not happen. They should be kicked out of FIFA and UEFA competions, but it will not happen.
I was kind of joking about that bit but there was a similar thing going on in Scotland that I seem to remember, where players were being charged with offences based on what was shown on highlights, managers complained and called it "trial by Sportscene" (Scottish version of MotD) and said that incidents were being taken completely out of context, and similar things which weren't shown on the telly were ignored. Anyway although I don't expect Serbia to be banned from football for ten years, there is a chance some meaningful action might actually be taken here, perhaps this is the opportunity that UEFA have been waiting for. It's difficult to see what Serbian players and coaches were directly involved in any of the bad stuff though. Not entirely sure how the murky world of UEFA disciplinary panels work.
I only think it does when people are talking about it. Sorry to repeat earlier post, but When you get down to the cold hard facts of the English FA they bottled it with Terry 4 game ban and ten days wages! Despite big kick it out campaigns, etc.
The Serbian FA are in complete denial: The Serbian FA denies any forms of racism towards the England Under-21 team last night and says defender Danny Rose behaved in an "inappropriate, unsportsmanlike and vulgar manner" towards their fans. Unbelievable! I was expecting them to deny the racism but to blame Danny Rose for what happened (which they have implied) is a complete disgrace.
They seem to be pretty divided. Their manager said they have nothing to apologise for, but Savo Milosevic went over to the England dressing room to apologise. Like I said yesterday, the country doesn't even recognise racism as a problem. Not only do they dislike all other ethnicities, but they also hate all the countries around them. It hasn't been that long since the Bosnian war, and all the ethnic cleansing that went on. No lessons have been learnt apparently.
Which is why Serbia MUST be banned from international football and Serbian clubs banned from European competitions.
Serbia should get 5 year ban, how can they blame rose for goodness sake,I think they should see the YouTube clips........morons.
Thing is, they have been banned from international competition in the past, albeit whilst they were known as Yugoslavia. They were thrown out of Euro 92 before it began due to UN sanctions placed on them over the Yugoslav Wars, and these weren't lifted until 1994, so they were unable to qualify for the World Cup either. Seemingly, it's going to take something similar to the Yugoslav Wars happening for something to happen over this whole affair, as FIFA and UEFA clearly lack the bottle to do it themselves.
People are saying ban Serbia from playing international football? Just ban the fans who abused Rose. If we played Saudi Arabia and a section of our fans wore Burkas to mock the opposition and they said that England shoudn't be allowed to play football internationally, then that would be ridiculous!
Serbia have been given enough warnings. Banning the fans would do jack ****. Banning Serbia from international football and it's clubs from Champions League and Europa League would send out a clear message that what happened last night is totally unacceptable.
That's quite a generalisation. There are obviously problems but you can't tar the whole country with the same brush. This doesn't look like a gesture of hatred to me: please log in to view this image
