Well I was going to watch the England match ......................... Racing on Wednesday from Lingfield, Nottingham and Kempton on the flat, Wetherby and Punchestown over the jumps. Richard Hughes might notch a winner at Lingfield Morpheus runs at Nottingham At Wetherby a nice NH card. Coolmore have a runner in the opening novice hurdle, McCoy taking the reins on Mississippi Blues and he will be a warm order to score on debut. In the 3.25 it's great to see Bothy back on the track and, still only 6, he can hopefully fulfill the promise of his previous runs, particularly his neck 2nd to Menorah in the Greatwood in 2010. The 3.55 is a cracker and features some nice handicappers such as Gansey, Pigeon Island and The Hollinwell, just don't ask me to pick the winner. McCoy can take leg 2 of the novices hurdle on Jonjo's Dursey Sound whilst the beignners chase looks at the mercy of African Broadway- Over at Punchestown most visitors will be wondering whether Champagne Agent can finally break his duck - not for me. Mullins and Walsh should, however, be successful in the Grade 3 mares hurdle with Tarla, whose supporters will be hoping she can take this readily on her way to better things. In the beginners chase Mount Benbulben faces no less than 4 Gigginstown runners and will do well to prevail here, given his trainer expects him to need the run. That's all.
Oddy - First Mohican is back out 3.15 Notts. There's always the bounce fear but this opened up 2/1 with Victors this evening, 13/8 Hills and 6/4 bet365, been smashed everywhere and now best 5/4 Hills - I managed to sneak 11/8 with Paddy Power, trading 2.26 betfair.
Seen that Grizz - Ron's had a fictional grand on it in his betting bank experiment. In other news, the Germans let a 4-0 lead slip against Sweden, it finished 4-4
Morning all, Off to wetherby races today so would appreciate any tips /fancies There has been some heavy rain in recent hours (Live in castleford), so there maybe a going change
Great photo on Twitter this morning: "Great sight in London first thing - or Cecils string took a wrong turn?! The Household Cavalry getting behind #Frankel"
To quote the legend of the airwaves, ‘Big’ Alan Brazil, ‘Marrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrning’! Should be a big day for dear old Sir Henry, the forum’s second favourite trainer, today as he seemingly has half his stable entered this afternoon. Should score with a few to boot. The unraced pair at Nottingham and Dr Yes (son of an Oaks winner and an effortless winner at Bath last time) make particular appeal. Re that last one’s heat (4.05 Lingers Park) incidentally what an absolutely corking contest for a £15.8k Class 2 Handicap! Has a better race of its type and value ever been held in this Isle?!? Competitive with a capital ‘C’ and many potential improvers contained therein. However, to the old regular readers I will nominate one this evening at Kempton Park. It’s from the county and may be worth an each-way dabble at a big, and I do mean big, price: La Belle Doyenne (8.40 Kempton Park) – what a lovely name for a filly by the way. Very continental. This daughter of old boy Doyen makes her Flat bow here but was a winner of a bumper for Alan King last November. This was seemingly a decent event as well as the 3rd and 4th went in subsequently and the 2nd was just touched off in another couple of bumpers. After this win though La Belle Doyenne proved most disappointing as she failed to build on, or even maintain, this most promising start. I just do not believe though that she deserves to be 20/1 as a reproduction of that debut success, in the NH sphere, will see her go close and the opposition, in the main, do not look the greatest field of fillies ever assembled – over half of the field, for instance, were beaten in excess of 10 lengths last time out! Looks attractively priced, people, and let’s hope that she ‘brings the bounty, back to the county’. Good luck, all.
I've just been given a tip for SAN CASSIANO in the 1:50. Just got 8/1 on Betfair (Should also make you aware that any tips I have received and then shared on here have a 100% failure rate)
Oh, I had a very nice bet at 4-4, so am well pleased. Was a bit worried at 4-0, though......... please log in to view this image
First Mohican and Morpheus the wrong way round? I've put a bit on the treble (hopefully the correct way round), all look good, looking forward to seeing First Mohican out again. Anyone know if Sir HC is well enough to be in attendance today and/or saturday?
