Martin Atkinson has been selected as our referee on Sunday. What can we expect from him in this kind of match?
Well it certainly looked like they got at the referee in the last derby match at the sportsdirect arena, particularly after half time, so he surely can't be any worse than that!
His family come from Ponteland and he often stays over in the area. He has been known to drink in Ponteland Club which as you can imagine is used mainly by NUFC fans. How the Premier League can allow him to officiate in this game is beyond me. I fear the worst.
Glad its not Howard Web. Did Atkinson do our game against Liverpool? He was candy in that if I remember and didnt take any ****e from Suarez. Hope its the game where Cabaye's constant fooling is caught and Gutierrez diving is punished.
I though the Premier league wouldn't allow this?? they normally do their homework about stuff like this (i.e. Clattenburg is not allowed to ref us or Newcastle as he's a black & white)! If this is true then it's shocking
Can't be worse than the one last year who gave you lot a penalty for something that happens 10-12 times a game, including that one, imo.
That can't be right about Atkinson, they are quite thorough in their checks into officials backgrounds. And he has been terrible for us in the past!
Doesn't surprise me one bit, in the Man U League Cup game, the referee was someone who was born/ lives a few miles away from Old Trafford.
Clattenburg recently came on as an official in a Newcastle game after the ref or assistant ref got injured - a mag colleague at work told me - he could not believe that it had been allowed Checked with my colleague and he came out of the crowd to become the fourth official at the Aston Villa home game

Checked him out born in west yorkshire and he's the one whistling sent Huth off in our game against Stoke for his tackle on Meyler
That makes me feel better, as I've always felt as if he was a home ref, of course unless he is secretly one of you lot.
