Although any team would probably want Seb, Ferrari already have Fernando at the height of his powers. If it was clear that Vettel was driving better than Alonso, then this would make sense. But there's a synergy in the team at Red Bull which is giving them the advantage and Ferrari can't sign that.
Could still happen... wouldn't be surprised if the contract at Mercedes is loaded with Performance goals (both ways, what the team expect from him and what he expects from them), if they give him a dog of a car, clauses aren't met, then he could still be off to RBR for 2014, however it's all pie in the sky (Hmm, I like pie too!), they above won't happen. I'm willing to bet my Apple Danish (I love Apple Danish) that Vettel won't be going anywhere in 2014.. Webber would have retired and RB will hire a #2 to play second fiddle to Vettel. Alonso will still be at Ferrari and will ensure if Massa isn't there, then someone who's just as average is!
There's nothing new in that article. This was all said by several journalists a few months ago. Why did Benson decide to write the article? Also he mentions in his article that Alonso "vetoed the idea of 2008 world champion Lewis Hamilton joining Ferrari earlier this year", yet Hamilton admitted yesterday that he'd had talks with Ferrari. Only the boss has the power to veto someone, everyone else has an opinion.
If this does actually happen(It'll be one of F1's worst kept secrets), and Mark does retire at the end of 2013 like many think he will, RB will be faced with an entirely new line up Or would Mark be offered a contract extension just to keep some experience in the team?
I know this sounds insane, but I think by the sentence by "no two roosters in the team" means Alonso will not be there "when" Seb arrives. This is how I see it: Rumours that Seb has signed for Ferrari in 2014 (depending on certain circumstances*).//Alonso and Lewis start using mind games to make out he is lesser than them.// Stefano and Luca start to praise Seb for his talent.// Q: Lewis Hamilton or Sebastian Vettel? Stefano: Sebastian Vettel.// Luca: Alonso can pick team mates if he wins us a world title. Alonso starts having a certain dislike for Seb from out of the blue when in previous seasons they were pretty friendly with each other.// Luca: no 2 roosters under my roof thanks!// My conclusion is this: Alonso is now under real pressure to win Ferrari the WDC or WCC, real pressure because I think Luca has had enough of this team and is demanding results now! Alonso has 2 seasons to win the WDC 2012-2013 or face the chop OR! he must accept Seb to come in with equal status in 2014 if he is unable to do so. I believe if Alonso doesn't win the world title this year or next he will be replaced by Seb *these are the circumstances that Vettel has to get into Ferrari. He has to pretty much stop Alonso winning the world title again to have him kicked out of Ferrari and maybe into retirement since he will be hitting 33 by 2014, he might give up or take a few years out like Kimi for instance when Alonso came in. This I reckon is where the extra hostility from Alonso and Lewis has come from, Seb is fighting Alonso already for Ferrari and Luca is allowing it to happen to show not even Alonso is safe from Ferrari desires as he doesn't care about opinion from fanboys, only hard cold results! If Alonso cant do it, Luca will likely look to Seb to do it instead. And if Seb replaces Alonso at Ferrari it just means the most historic team in F1 believe Seb is a level above Alonso and Lewis which would plummet their reputation.
So, so many words to say that you think Seb is God on wheels: wow, what a surprise! Did Bernie want track sprinklers so Seb could prove he can race on water?
Ferrari are under performing as a team badly.. Their last real shot at the WDC by pure pace was 2008. The only real reason Vettel would go to Ferrari is for money.
And in 2014 Vettel will be turning water in to wine and feeding the 5000. Either that or crying for Newey... One or tother.
If Ferrari hadn't ballsed up the 2008 championship, then none of this would have likely happened. They would have entered 09 on a high and never looked back. But because of inability to perform a simple pitstop/make an engine that doesn't blow up when leading in hungary by a mile, they ballsed up the last few seasons too.
I just really can't see why Vettel would want to leave Red Bull. Ferrari were a great team but they're not what they once were. I honestly think moving to Ferrari would be a backwards move for Vettel. At Red Bull, he could break and set some serious records. At Ferrari, it'll be a struggle.
Hmmm, I'm unconvinced. If I accept that as explanation, it would suggest it is a vanity project for Vettel. That he somehow feels he has to out-Schumacher Schumacher.
