Newcastle have confirmed Haris Vuckic will miss the rest of the season after suffering cruciate ligament damage.

The 20-year-old Slovenian international sustained the injury the Newcastle U21s 2-1 victory at Aston Villa on Monday evening.

A club spokesman said: "Haris Vuckic will be sidelined for the remainder of the season after rupturing his cruciate ligament in his left knee.

"Having been assessed by the club's medical staff, it has been confirmed that Vuckic will not play again during the 2012-13 campaign."

Vuckic signed a three-and-a-half year deal at St James' Park in January 2009 but has failed to established himself in the first team as yet.

This is bad. Firstly, get well soon Harris, big injuries take a looooooooooooong time to fully recover from, gotta make sure there are no lingering problems.
Also, this is some serious bad news...Haris being out has virtually sealed Gosling <yikes>'s spot on the team for good, especially in the Europa and cups...

I haven't been convinced by the lad at all but this is gutting for him. The number of injuries he picks up must be a big concern for the club. Like Saylor he has to be considered injury prone. I think he might struggle here if he can't keep fit soon. I don't understand this Gosling over Abeid thing at all. Abeid looked a good player pre season. Gosling hasn't looked one in two or three seasons here!

Apart from getting a deflected goal that sealed our qualification for the group stage, his best play this season was the one where he bamboozled the Manure centre backs in the league cup, only for the shot to go agonisingly wide. Other than that, he's mostly been anonymous...as anonymous as the numerous guests lurking on the matchday thread on match day!

Sounds cynical but for the team I'm not too fussed that he's injured, firstly because he's vastly overrated and secondly because his best position is the "number 10" role and he's never going to play there long term for us. At the moment Pardew can't bring himself to play one of the Demba's wide in a 4-3-3 so there is no chance he's going to drop one of them just so that Vuckic can take their place.

Don't get me wrong I'm devastated for the lad but I just don't see this injury impacting our season that much, if at all. As a player I'm yet to see the "potential" other people claim this lad to have, and if he does have the said "potential" then he's a million miles away from achieving it.

Putting aside sympathy in his current situation, he's just way too lazy for me. If a player at that age can't be arsed to close down the opposition, I don't hold out much hope for him at the top level.

I don't wish Injured upon anyone, but at least now Abeid and others will get their chance.

**** knows what Pardew saw in Gosling.

Feel bad for him but I wont miss him honestly, this injury had to happen this season as it was his 'breakthrough' season chance.

Maybe he can still make it .. I hope.

I had high hopes for him but I have to now admit that I just do not think he is good enough for the premiership. He is slow, positional wise poor and he does not seem to graft hard.

He is also injury prone. I think we may never see him in a NUFC shirt again.

Dont get me wrong... I actually like the chap and his attitude seems good.

Dont get me started on Golsing - he brings nothing to the table for me but I am very hopeful of abeid. He looks like the making of a player in a similar mould to emre...

For Haris, I'm just hoping it isn't the kind of injury that ruins his career. Often this type ofinjury at a young age leads to further injuries and the kind of player that vanishes into the wilderness. I don't quite think Vuckic has what it takes to be a regular first teamer for NUFC, but he's a decent young lad. Always thought he'd either remain a squad player, or one of those we sell on to make funds for a stonger signing. Either way, a long term injury is not good news. Hopefully he has a speedy recovery.

But I'm not bothered by Gosling AT ALL!

We may as well wash our hands of him he's a wreck and lacks the pace required in this league.
