All this debate about how comical the sponsor Wonga is ! 8 million a year for shirt and stadium sponsorship compared with Sunderland's 20 million off Invest in Africa for shirt sponsorship only, now that's comical.
8m a year - holy **** I thought it would blow us out of the water the way they were going on about it!! What's your source for this by the way?
8 million quid well spent is better than 20m quid not spent well. Look at our spending compared to yours in the last few years
We didn't have the £20m a year deal in the last few years - we had less than £5m a year from Tombola - the IIA deal was only done close season and I'd say Fletcher and Johnson are pretty good business all in all! - By the way - which success story players did you sign in the window? Bigirimana? Anita (!!!!!)?
I'm talking about money general. It doesn't matter how much you've got coming in, it is how you spend it. So you may be getting more cash from your sponsor, but it means **** all.
Your comment was "£8m well spent is better than £20m not spent well" and then you compared your spending to Steve Bruce's spending (Not Martin O'Neill's. Sorry but I'd much rather have Johnson and Fletcher for our £20m than Bigirimana and Anita for your £8m - even relatively speaking there's no comparison - do you think we've spent badly in the summer by buying a striker and a winger (2 positions we needed) with premier league experience?? Carr did the business for you in the close season prior to last season but this he hasn't found those gems he did - maybe because people are realising he knows his stuff and upping the price?
Your 20 million deal was very much a one off, great opportunity that came up and outside of the top 4 + media favourite Liverpool no other club could ever dream of getting a deal like that. After your 4 year deal is up you'll be back to the average 5 or 6million a year, it simply won't happen again, you struck gold.
It was a point made about spending and money in general. Wonga vs Invest in Africa means **** all because A) It's how you spend it, and B) Because the sponsorship money is not the only money either clubs will have at their disposal. And the last part of your comment - Bigi cost us only 1m, and has so far played immense. He's already shown he can cope with the pace of the premier league, his passing is already excellent, his tackling is good, and he's only 18. He is definitely a gem in my eyes. Our lack of signings really doesn't have anything to do with Carr "not doing it". We had the players lined up, but Douglas had issues that needed taking care of, and there was haggling issues between Newcastle and Lille. Anyway, I have every faith that we'll get the players in eventually. We cannot expect to have excellent transfer windows all the time.
But you aren't getting £20m a year, complete and utter load of bollocks. Wait and see when your accounts come out at the end of the year.
Eh? How do you work that out when according to SUNDERLAND AFC we are getting £20m a year - Think I'd take the clubs word over yours.
But we are, that was announced and confirmed a long time ago. Just cos you wish we weren't doesn't mean we aren't!
Ofcourse scoring 5 in 5 means he will score in every or even most of his games. Hes the first player ever to score 5 in 5. He's automatically justifies his 12m price tag. No questions there.
