That Leeds team was shite. They only won the league in 91/92 because United spunked away a big lead. Still a good win for you lot though. Didn't Hateley score a bit of a cracker?
When we beat them, they were near the top of the league, unbeaten at home in years and had just been crowned league winners and had just beaten the German champions. After we pumped them, they sold their best player and slid down the league.
"Greatest Sporting Moment" Cantona did play - signed for Man U a couple of weeks after the game. So, in summary: "You're bitter cos you remember that team being pish" "You're bitter cos you don't remember enough about that team being pish"
No, right into the final. I had a ticket all lined up too, what a time that was to be a Teddy Bear, what a side we had too, who can forget big Davie McPherson bombing down the right wing, it's almost Broadfootesque.. Did you know that the Champions league logo has 8 stars, one to signify the each of the initial 8 CL teams.
They'd have sold Cantona anyway though. He was shagging golden boy Lee Chapman's missus. Imagine getting rid of Eric so you could keep Chapman
City gubbing Man Ure at Old Trafford was ****in hilarious. Just a pity City took their foot off the pedal. Double figures was on. Sir Beetrotface Furioussons coupon at the end was ****in priceless.
1. I never said it was the greatest sporting achievement, I believe what happened was the OP has headed off on a tangent as the OP's tend to do and Trev(?) mentioned what a great achievement it was to beat the English Champions home and away. 2. Cantona did play, as did Tony Dorigo (who a couple of posts above was the greatest LB in Europe) English POTY Strachan, the 60yo McAllistair (28), English international Batty and one of the most consistent PL players ever in Gary <SPEED> 3. They were only pish because we beat them, but as I pointed out, they were near the top of the league, hadn't been beat at home in 2 years and had just gaped the Bundesliga champions. As they say, get it round you
Aye, and rumours were abound that Bernard Tapie had bunged some of the CSKA and Brugges players. Who remembers Scott Nisbetts goal v Brugge
IIRC, Leeds were beaten on away goals by VFB Stuttgart, but the match was relayed because the Germans fielded too many foreigners. Leeds won the replay in Barcelona.
Must make Trev and Edge all dewy eyed to see the extinct clubs achievement 20 odd years ago. The modern day Third Lanark. Bless their little Sevco cotton socks.
