    This is nuts

    http://www.themag.co.uk/blog/nufc-turn-away-season-ticket-holders-who-turn-up-late/

I would like to alert you to a situation that occurred to me on Sunday.

I am a Newcastle United season ticket holder and pay my direct debit every month. I was travelling up from London for the Manchester United match (due to a family anniversary) and was delayed due to traffic from an accident, though I obviously tried to get to the stadium as quickly as possible for the game.

After 8 long hours on the road I finally arrived at the stadium for the beginning of the second half only to find the turnstiles closed.

I spoke to the steward who informed me there was nothing they could do.

I spoke to the supervisor who again said they couldn’t allow me entry due to, “club rules”, although he then told me if I had a paper ticket I would have been allowed in as they don’t need to be scanned like my season ticket card needs to be.

His actual words were, “a paper ticker holder takes priority over a season ticket holder as those are club rules”.

I can’t believe they would admit this and disregard a season ticket holder who pays every month in favour of some fan who has paid for one game.

He then turned me away stating there was nothing he could do and my seat remained empty for the remainder of the game.

I would like to hear your thoughts on this blatant disregard to a season ticket holder and whether anybody else has experienced anything similar?

I know that some stewards carry a prtable barcode scanner that take the paper and the plastic
they are normally located near disabled entrances, as this is where they would be need most
can't see why nobody thought of this and why this was not used

The guy in the yellow stewards jacket is the stewards supervisor and he's one of the most arrogant, moronic people you could meet. As if working in a part time job as a steward makes him something special.

I've known stewards on the door advise people to go to the box office to get replacement tickets but that joker tried to stop them getting in as if he wanted an empty seat instead. It wasn't a drunk or a junkie that had the problem with him, just an ordinary Joe, like most supporters.

I don't expect special, or superior service to a paper ticket customer, but not to have parity is a bit of a joke. Like AB said, if he couldn't use a plastic season ticket, a paper one should have been provided immediately, and to be honest they should have had a scanner on the spot to begin with.

I feel for the lad <ok>

my other best memory was watching dyer and bowyer having a scrap, Not knowing at the time they did and wondering why both players got sent off. As soon as i got home and found out, i knew that was the end of both of there careers and was very happy about it.
