This is a public forum, with a few members, why does mods resigning actually matter, reading your resignation posts and rules are quite funny, it's as if TF has released a statement
I can imagine how quickly this would just deteriorate into stupid insults and become a s**t board, without moderation.
My first impression too was that it was a little overly dramatic. But Mods are needed in order to stop the board descending into complete chaos. See: General Chat.
I think it's more a question of brix and nuts giving up their spare time, without much thanks, to keep what is largely a very successful message board and a great way of keeping in touch with all things QPR, running smoothly. I wouldn't have time to do it. My respect to those who do, it'll be a yes from me.
Tbh all they need to do is keep the peace, ban stop inappropriate behaviour and cut out the I'm so important threads e.g the one that's currently a stick - just find it quite amusing, no disrespect to our mods who I feel are doing a good job, but why the drama IT'S AN ONLINE FORUM, nothing more, so relax a bit
In his defence I'm sure it wasn't an ''I'm so important thread'', but it does come across as a little bit drama queen-ish. He does a great job though.
Be absolutey clear that without Mods this forum would become a world of rubbish with insults flying around and overrun with Trolls and WUMS who can do what they want without sanction. It would be a disaster making it very hard to discuss the one thing that we should all have an interest in.....QPR. I suspect the post is because it is in effect policing by consent. If the board are not happy then he is giving the option to say so. I for one think both Brix and Nuts do a great job and should just get on with it. Rules are clear. They shouldn't have to justify action and i'm sure they'd rather not have posts like that that is up. However it is a pretty thankless task and one not too many would want or be willing to invest the time in. My view will be crack on with our support and feel free to mod with having to justify actions. As supporters and forum members themsleves i'm sure they'd rather participate in debate than spending time modding.
Brix and nuts do an UNPAID job voluntarily and I, for one, support them 100%. I completely get where Brix is coming from and I don't find it in any way "drama queenish". The mods don't want to continue if the majority on here don't want them to. I will vote to retain them and I will rely on their judgement to do the right thing to unsure an enjoyable forum. I believe some on here are better suited to the "general chat" forum.
Completely agree. The mods have my 100% support in what have been difficult times for them due to a couple of idiots trying to **** stir and cause trouble. Ban without mercy and without appeal the ****s responsible.
Light touch moderation (which is what Brix and Nuts practice) matters because without it you'd soon find one or two abusive WUM's would arrive and rule the board, insults and bad temper would abound, football discussion would go down and much of the goodwill between members would be lost. Net effect - many disillusioned posters would go elsewhere. I'd like a quid for every post I've seen on our board (even with mods) when things get a bit volatile, and posters threaten to, or do, leave. On the other hand, I have never come across a poster saying he (or she) is leaving because we have mods. I've just read the rules, and they are concise and clear. Compliments to the draftsman. I didn't vote on the Swords issue, because I didn't see the original offending text and felt in fairness to Swords I should abstain, even though I had no doubt that Brixton's judgement would be spot on. Needless to say, I'll be voting (a) in the forthcoming vote.
Brix and nuts do a great job in my opinion and free of charge. Think some of you need to cut them some slack
I think it's a shame that the Board has been ruined by one persons ego and shall we say borderline personality, to the point that two good blokes doing a thankless task feel that they do not want to do a job anymore that in essence should be a straight forward task. They've certainly got my support.
Light touch moderation is exactly their style...without it, such a big forum would disintregrate. I will be supporting them 100% when I find out exactly how to do it. It was partially my fault this came about...I didn't understand the depth of the problem...as I was not keeping up with the whole forum and all the threads, so only saw a little bit of the problem...not the whole scheme....and that has taught me how valuable they are...they have to keep ontop of every thread...not just the fun ones that I do. So keep it up Brixton and NUTS and I apologise for being part of the problem
The majority would leave if one racist, homophobic moron was allowed free reign. The mods should just do it and not care what people think, thats what Id do.
Agree, can't stand the thought of an unmoderated forum. Looks like most of us think the Mods are Rockers! (Sorry)
Why would anyone want one of the most diverse and interesting football forums available anywhere to change? We're already doing it right and that include the levels of moderation even if it does get a bit like the TUC on here some days.
Any dissenters from the universal thanks and appreciation? No I didn't think so. Mods - you have our full support. Keep on doing what you do so well.
