Your opening post about the OP was written in a way that made you look like you were attacking him like a wild dog.(no pun intended). Not saying what Jasper said back was right, but he's bound to have a go back. As for saying "i guess women aren't welcome here", you couldn't be more wrong.

Fox offered an attacking threat when we had possession, but his positional sense when defending was woeful. We basically played the whole game with makeshift fullbacks on both sides. Today was the worst I can remember us playing at St Mary's for a long time, but at least we salvaged a point, so it's not all bad. Good news is, hopefully we won't have another off day like that for a while.

The 2 things which concerned me were that in the first half Fulham were dreadful, but we only managed to score a single goal, despite having some chances. Second half they were much improved and dominated the game, except for the 5 mins of injury time when they had the lead. Blame it on a makeshift back four or whatever, but as soon as they upped their game and tempo we were unable to cope, which I find a bit worrying.

Secondly is a problem which has been around for a long long time, and that is we look toothless up front without Lambert. As soon as he went off our play in Fulham's half was virtually non existant (except the final 5 mins again). I don't really know how we combat this, as I said we have had this problem for ages and it is the main reason why other fans label us a one man team.

Not too dissatisfied with a point, frustrating as I really don't think we will come up against many worse teams than Fulham in the first half today, so really should of put the game to bed by HT

It is a regrettable fact that this forum has degenerated to the extent that we, as Saints fans, slag each other off that the first opportunity. It is reminiscent of the bad old days of 606. Any opinion is attacked if it does not conform to the views of a vocal minority.

It’s okay to make unrealistic optimistic opinions; but it’s not okay to voice a view that seems to suggest we are somehow; “in trouble”, or ”under-performing” or “tactically naive”, etc.

Reading so many comments on this website and discerning the attitudes of some, I am reminded of Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale; "The Emperor's New Clothes"...

While we'll all miss Beddytare's wisdom, at helping to keep the house in order, let's try to maintain the level of respect for each other on this forum by not directly insulting each other. I would suggest that calling someone else's opinion pathetic, is on the edge of what is acceptable, probably over it. Calling the poster directly, as pathetic certainly is. Remember, it is the person's opinion you are disagreeing with. Let's keep the objections to that level.

Hopefully, Romsey Saint's fear that the forum has degenerated since it's inception, can be undone.

I too heard the match on radio! From the commentary, Saints had the better of the first half, Fulham sounded much better in the second! Good to come back at the death. We were playing today a side that has accumulated 12 consecutive seasons in the top flight so it was never going to be a walk over for the Saints. Fulham is a "savvy" side. At this stage it is a learning experience for players, management and supporters alike. Well done Saints!!

Well said. That's why I don't tend to get that heated about Gomarchingin's comments, much as I disagree with most of them - if I'm not going to criticise what I think is an overly optimistic post I can't really justify getting annoyed at what i think / hope is excessive pessimism

I got very much the same impression. I think Fulham are a much better side than they were only a few seasons back, and a lot of that is down to Martin Jol. A very good manager, in my opinion. Bet he gets a lot of respect at Craven Cottage. :)

Having gone back and read the comments, I'm afraid to say it looks a lot like sexism to me.

I would be worried if we lost...going into the international break with only 1 win. We had 2 good players missing and lost our RB with no obvious replacement. I think we can create chances, but we don't look like a proper PL side yet but feel that we will get better. We nearly threw this game away again, but managed to get a point thanks to Fonte. I missed most of 2nd half, but we looked the likeliest to win at the end. The next tranche of games will show us where we truly are, but the league is still wide open.

I was sitting here with a raging tooth ache trying to take my mind off things and concentrating on the game. It started well, we dominated and a thumping win seemed in order. Then the predictable happened. Missed oppotunities. a dissallowed goal and a defender carried off. You could see where the game was going.. Second half Fulham could see the possibility of a 'get out of jail' card as we crumbled at the back. At 2-1 down I went to make a cup of cha then the impossible happened, I missed the second Saints goal.
Yes, we are still on a learning curve. No, I don't think we will be relegated. Yes, we do need a class defender. As for Nigel pulling Lambert off, that is a puzzle. Fulham must have thought this an act of charity, after all it does begin at home. Still a point is a point and they are like gold dust in this division! So don't be down hearted. There is a long way to go!

Yeah it was sexism, but Jenny didn't help herself by her opening comment, not that it justifies Jasper's reaction..... Just from a neutral perspective.

Nah, you're thinking of the general board. Unless you're a man pretending to be a woman of course (not saying you are, I'm referring to someone else).

Good post, and hope the tooth ache improves. In your location, I suggest brandy. Possibly some Calvados..? ;)

Saint Jenny once went for my jugular as my grammar and punctuation are not the best .I didn't mind but it was the acid way in which she put me right if found a bit over the top.I accept the criticism but i am a practical person with a trade as opposed to an academic and if only the perfect can post its a bit sad and in any case i often see posts where the grammar is spot on but the content is ****e .She needs to relax.

There are lots of people who are rude and aggressive, but replies should be about what was said not about who was saying it.

Jasper...you think we may get relegated?? Your opinion and your entitled to it, some of the replies to you are pathetic in the fact they contained no facts to disagree with you. Myself, I have seen many a relegation battle and I have now consigned myself that this season will be another. We won most of those battles by the team staying together and showing great spirit and the fans sticking with the team which I thought we did today. Make no bones about it we are not going to venture out of the bottom six this season but if we are to survive the qualities I have pointed out will be crucial.

Did anyone really expect anything else other than a relegation in this, our first season back in the Premier league, particularly on the back of two consecutive promotions? I expected a relegation battle and after 7 games we are in one and about where I'd thought we'd be. There are going to be lots of games like this one today. We did ok first half an hour, but then Fulham got a grip of the ball and played well in the second half.

In a bizarre way, the draw today may keep us grounded. If we'd had won then we would be 14th in the league and above Liverpool. I'm sure this would have had some people talking about a push for Europe.

For those that were around in the 90's, we had an annual battle to stay up in the Premier League and I see this season as no different. I am happy that we are in the Premier League and I only hope that the fans stay behind Nigel and the team, no matter what happens.
