When I heard that Steve Bruce was trying to get him not long back, I have to say that when he went to Wednesday I was almost relieved as I have never been impressed in the past. However, he was easily Wednesday's pick player yesterday with Antonio. Indeed I always saw him as an out-and-out striker but on yesterday's performance it's obvious he has plenty more to offer. In that role he'd have been a big asset to us. Still, spilt milk soon goes sour and we move on!
I thought they wasted him by playing him out wide, he'd have caused us far more problems if he'd been playing in the middle. I thought Ross Barkley looked good too.
The Wendies aren't too happy with DJ's team selections at the moment from speaking to a mate. dropped Taylor from the back 4 yesterday and left Johnson on the bench. Playing Boothroyd out wide made it much easier for us yesterday.
On the tram yesterday, the bloke next to me said he was unhappy with Bothroyd starting and wanted Madine in the side instead
when i saw the title of this thread, i thought it was going to be along the lines of glad we never bothered.. thought they offered nothing all game going forward, considering our defensive injuries we probably couldnt have asked for a better fixture by the looks of it..
A lot of Wednesday fans aren't happy with Bothroyd, they think he's pretty lazy and not overly bothered about playing for the team, he's on massive wages and happy to pick up his wedge every week. They'd much rather see Madine in the side
Bothroyd's ****e. It's a sorry indictment of the state of the English national team that the **** actually won a ****ing cap!
The Wednesday fans don't like him, I think he's tweets might have something to do with it... @jaybothroyd: How can you say I don't care !!! You lot are ****ing thick ... The select few obviously ..
That's fair enough, their opinion is based on the whole season so far rather than Sat's game, would defo take Antonio off their hands tho, he was very good
When he won a cap he was playing really well at Cardiff and looked like one of the very best players in the division. It's easy to say that he's **** now, but that doesn't mean he was always ****.
The fact that he was called up as a Second Division player does mean the England team is **** though.
I still think we lack a player like Bothroyd, I thought Prossy was coming in to play that role, but he's obviously not that sort of player.
That's appalling logic. It was always seen as a massive waste that Wagstaff and Chilton never played for England as second division players.
Bothroyd was nowhere near good enough for England but there are always players like this getting called up, Nugent springs to mind and the next one will be the fatty at Norwich
They should look at Lambert before Holt. He's a complete striker, not just a big bullying target man.
