Ok every single saints fan hope that the liebherrs and cortese will be with saints for a very long time, the truth is that since the death of markus there has been a cloud of doubt over st marys about whether or not the family are committed or not. With this being a forum there's not a single person on here that knows anything about what goes on at st marys so its all speculation. Is there anything wrong with speculating on what little we know (the facts) you have to agree that there has been more negative facts than positive ones recently.
I don't know if anyone else is a little disillusioned with life in the Premier, lack of success apart, it seems erratic and bitty, I was happier with the Championship, Tuesday, Saturday combinations where you always had something to discuss, but with the Prem there are gaps where all we seem to do is discuss doom and gloom and create various negative conspiracies. The lack of interesting information from the Club itself doesn't help with it's MI5 style secrecy, where no one is allowed to know anything about anyone, always results in loads of made up rumours, nearly always damaging, but often without a scintila of truth. As a true supporter I want to hear about individuals, their injuries, their well being, their progress and prospects, their ambitions and hates, anything to give me an idea about what and who they actually are. I regard it as my team and I want to know everything about it, hours trawling various web sites just comes up with next to nothing, and what does come up is mostly negative and uninteresting. I have been following the Saints since the 1950's and have never felt so uninformed. Is it just me getting old and irascible, with too much idle time on my hands? All I can say is come Southampton FC feed me, and just for a change win a few more games than you lose.
And therein lies the problem. That's what we all do. We interact with the company called Southampton FC differently to any other business. There are certain suppliers of services that I will always use and it could be said I have a loyalty toward them. But it's a loyalty based on good experience of the service they offer. I only want to know if, for example, the insurance company I use is about to go bust so that I can move elsewhere. I don't care if one their employees is off with flu, or whether (s)he is kind to animals. But when it comes to SFC we all want news. We feel we have the right to be informed, and it's because we do not have the usual consumer choice. If I discover that my bank is making money from arms sales to the Taliban I can change banks. Whatever SFC do I am not likely to decide that it is time to switch my allegiance to Tranmere Rovers (even though I could save a fortune were I to do so!). The problem is that a business that operates totally openly is naive. Cortese has established a culture that nothing leaks out, but maybe he could afford to be selective. I'm not sure what it would have added to my life to have known prior to my arrival at Goodison on Saturday that Morgan was unlikely to play. But I would have liked to have known, irrational though it is, and I can't believe that David Moyes had a special game plan to contain our mighty Frenchman and was thrown into confusion by his absence from the team sheet. As it was I found myself asking fellow Saints why he wasn't playing and discovered that they were as baffled as I. Like you, Saintdon, I have supported Saints for years. I like to get human interest stories of my heroes. While they are Southampton players, they represent us every time they play. Much though I admire Nicola Cortese, I'm not sure he gets this bit
Hi Channon. Good post bit we can't blame NC for the lack of team news that is down to Nigel. He said in a previous interview he would give out no injury news until the team sheet goes in just before a match..
The speculation though is not actually based on complete facts.........The only actual fact is we know is they have taken a loan......The speculation is what for and how much, surely? Not sure you can have negative and positives when dealing with non factual speculation. Obviously you can have positive thoughts and speculate on your thoughts just the same as you can have negative thoughts and speculate. The one fact we know and there is no dispute or speculation is that there is a loan............. In a separate issue folks come on it isn't right to call someone stupid or any other name because they have an opinion that clashes with yours...negative or positive. We just do not need that kind of thing.......We do have some very plain speakers that is true but calling them names adds nothing to the debate at all. If you know that it is likely to be controversial to your way of thinking persuade them, use the art of debate. If they will not see your point of view then that is their right. Just remember some will be contoversial just for affect....I am not saying that is what we are having...just reminding you all is all..............
Fact 1. we have taken a loan and i agree that this possibly might not be a negative thing to do but its certinaly not a positive step. Fact 2. we have stopped work at st marys again may not be negative but again certinaly not positive. Fact 3. we are crap at keeping clean sheets. This is most definatly negative and in no way positive. These are the 3 areas that we have been debating hence the realisitc posts and the head in clouds posts who's post are more factual and less BS
So in summary all these points are basically neutral apart from fact 3. So why make a big deal out of them? Nobody minds discussing the merits of the defence because that is at least based on something, but the rest of it is pure speculation. It's been mentioned that Everton also took a similar loan, are we worried about them going under as well?
People keep confusing realism with negativity. There are negative views, neutral views and positive views. Any of these could be realistic. I see know reason why pessimistic people are the only ones who can claim to be realistic.
Exactly. Every single person on here would claim that their own views are realistic. Why would you hold an opinion that you don't consider to be realistic? It's impossible by definition.
Could you imagine if there were forums back in the day when we used to be bottom at easter then go on a run and finish 17th beddy would of banned everyone.
FACT NUMBER 1: None of us REALLY know what goes on at the club. FACT NUMBER 2: None of us can do a single tiny weeny thing about how the club is run. FACT NUMBER 3: What's the bloody point of worrying about things you have no control over? FACT NUMBER 4: As a wise man said, "control your controllables" FACT NUMBER 5: It's only a game
FACT 6: this is a forum to debate peoples opinions if we only discuss stuff we know about it would be a very quiet place, but i agree the last 78 posts on here and the numurous posts on other threads have been a complete waste of time. However in this case i just want to finish by saying my posts are LEGEND wait for it ARY.
