Although we have the new singing section alongside the usually vocal SW corner I don't think we are creating as much of an atmosphere as I was hoping for. The two home games so far this season have had long quiet spells which for the crowds we have had has been dissappointing. The songs which are being sang don't vary much and get quite repetitive, so can we try to introduce something new or revive some chants?

I'd love to hear "Wise Men Say", "Roker Aces", "No.1 is Gary Rowell" etc more often and some new original chants for our current players rather than the "There's only one XX!".

To start the ball rolling how about:

"Hey Jimmy, Jimmy, oh Jimmy Mac, go skin their full back" to the tune of Martha and the Vandellas?

Thought the Liverpool atmosphere was great. Wigan died due to the performance imo. It will be bouncing for the next two games so we'll see after that.

Im praying they sort the half time debacle out

I agree about the reasons for the Wigan atmosphere matching that of the performance but wouldn't hat be the best time to get some chants going?

When the game is lively the atmosphere and roar of the crowd is automatic but in slower periods of the game is where the crowd play their part, surely better than just sitting watching at times?

We could do with some long anthem which can build and build, hopefully spreading around the ground and try to encourage a reaction on the pitch, i've seen those reactions in the past and it positively sparks the lads and can distract and intimidate the opposition. Not many clubs have the asset that as a large group of vocal fans we can be, so let's make better use of it!

Can't disagree about singing getting thigs going - just easier to say than do. Excitement on the pitch normally equeals excitement oin the "terraces" but sadly it doesn;t happen (in almost any ground nowadays)

Spot on Marcus, which is due in my opinion to a combination of a change of supporter in the modern day ground, all seater stadiums, ease of access into and around concourses and stewards who insist on keeping everyone seated (who sings sitting down?). I remember being in Roker Park at least 30-40 minutes before KO, which is where the atmosphere began, these days the stadium is mostly empty until minutes before KO.

Sad isn't it pdm - I remember roker and the atmosphere (stood in Roker end for 3 seasons then Fulwell from 85 till it closed!!) - also the SoL in the early days (the early peter Reid days) was fantastic too. Always full but the whole generation seems to have changed - the most atmosphere you seem to get nowadays is off idiots who slag the players for 90 minutes!!
