Leeds United are giving a trial to Portuguese international Ricardo Rocha. The 34-year-old defender is currently without a club after being released by Portsmouth following their relegation to League One at the end of last season. Rocha was named Portsmouth`s player of the season last season but was released to ease the cash strapped clubs financial burden. He recently had a short trial at Ipswich Town but he is now at Elland Road and Leeds boss Neil Warnock says he is having a trial with the club after agreeing to take a look at him. Speaking on LUTV, Warnock said, "He has had a game and he is a little bit short of fitness at the minute. I said we would have a look at him because a lot of the lads know him."
If he gets fit he can be very handy back up to pearce and lees/peltier. wages wont be much as hes a free agent
"Leeds is a club with a large fanbase and many trophies,” Al-Reyas said in an interview with CNBC Arabia. "It suffered lots of debt in 2003 and 2004 but the new board has stabilised the finances, and they are now in a good state. “The club doesn't have any debt, which is a good comparison with other clubs in England. If promotion is achieved, there will be £60 million in television rights. "We have a separate budget from the purchase total to buy better players to achieve promotion to the Premier League,” he added. “Money already spent on the stadium and facilities means money that can be spent elsewhere. "This represents an opportunity for us, a new field of investment... it will add variety to our portfolio and help our exposure to the United Kingdom and build relationships there."
We do need cover in defence, particularly at CB. Not sure Kisnorbo's particularly good anymore, and Peltier isn't a natural CB. Rocha could be half decent as back up, he's played at the top level for a lot of his career, although from what I remember, he got sent off an awful lot...
