So then as the calendar reveals that today is none other than 1 October and as the nights draw in and the temperatures start to plummet what are the great brains on the forumâs prediction for the current NH campaign??? My top 3 are: (i) to tumultuous acclaim Mr Henderson will be crowned Champion Trainer, (ii) once again Sprinter Sacre will go through the season unbeaten. This time the highlight will be a facile win in the Champion Chase, and (iii) Roberto Goldback will win the Grand National. I would also have been tempted to include big predictions re Montbazon and Smad Place but its hard enough second guessing what Alan King will do with them (very conflicting statements being made) let alone anything else. I did this thread last year as well, http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/89460-3-predictions-for-NH-season, and I say didnât the opening poster (for once) do well! So then, is anyone else prepared to gaze into their crystal ball and offer a trio of forecasts for this term???
1) Flemenstar will romp home in the Gold Cup and an emotional Peter Casey will tell Alastair Down "I'm having a blow job with her ****ing finger up my arse tonight" 2) Hurricane Fly rounds the final bend in the Champion Hurdle with Ruby Walsh motionless and cruises up the hill to regain his crown 3) Mark Johnston will saddle a winner at the Cheltenham Festival
1 - Kauto Star will finally be retired. 2 - People will complain that racing's golden age is over 3 - Sprinter Sacre will make a new golden age at the festival
1.Within a week of it beginning i will have a ready winner fall at the last and sulk until the flat comes around again 2. I will forget no 1 by the time of the Chetenham festival and think it's the best week ever 3. by the time of the national debarcle i will confirm no 1 again A special prediction is that Nicky Henderson will end up having to take out a restraining order against Sir Barney Chuckles after he is found in his garden 5 nights on the trot holding nothing but a big bouquet of gladioli and looking doey eyed.
1- Sizing Europe to win a Grade 1 chase over 3 miles. 2-Zarkandar to win the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton 3- TBC...
1. No Nicky Henderson stable stars to be fit to run before Christmas. 2. Second season chasers to win the Tingle Creek, Hennesey, King George, Gold Cup and Champion Chase. 3. Darlan not to win a race.
Looking at the old post SBC - you were pretty much the only one to emerge with much credit! 1. Invictus will win at the Cheltenham Festival 2. Hunt Ball will win at least ONE decent grade race during the season 3. Hold On Julio will win a good handicap I think that casts the net quite widely New number 1> Sir Des Champs Chelts 2013 - possibly the Ryanair, and hoping his jumping has improved!
1. Sir Des Champs will win the Gold Cup. 2. Echoing Reebok Rules, Hunt Ball to win a decent Grade race. 3. John Ferguson to saddle a Chelt Fest winner.
1) Kauto Star will have half a season before being pulled up and then retired (hopefully it doesnt end in tears tho) 2) Long Run will win the Cheltenham Gold Cup once again 3) Peddlers Cross will once again come 2nd in the Champion Hurdle
Massive shame. I think Oddy, myself, and yourself are all in agreement that he was the most exciting chaser to follow this season if fit, and believe me I rate Sir Des Champs very highly.
1. Quevega will win the mares hurdle with ease and there will be half a dozen threads on here imploring and debating her running in one or more other races st the festival. 2.Hurricane Fly will miss the Champion Hurdle costing ante post punters thousands. 3. At least two horses will be killed in the National and the RSPCA will get the race banned. Will try to think some positive ones in the next few days
1. Hurricane Fly will have an injury scare prior to taking his place at Cheltenham and romping to victory further confounding those of us who lost our shirt and trousers on him in 2012. 2. Buck Mulligan will contest decent chase handicaps, travel and jump like a serious contender before finding absolutely nothing at the business end. 3. Kauto Star will roll back the years with a stunning Boxing Day victory and then be retired immediately after.
1. Simonsig doesn't win the Arkle 2. Grand Crus wins the Ryan Air. Or Cue Card does. Dammit. Head says Grand Crus, heart say Cue Card. 3. Sanctuaire wins the Tingle Creek and Sprinter Sacre wins the Champion Chase.
I bloody hope so, I'll be in tears all over again. Hope it doesn't end badly for him... On a higher note, I really do fancy Pique Sous and Dodging Bullets for the Supreme Novices, the latter impressed me at Chelt Fest this year in the Triumph and his first start over hurdles was a second in Group 2. Already had a little dabble on at 25/1.
