They are stories like Hollywood, far from the truth,â the former Queens Park Rangers captain told the BBC website. Barton joined the French club in August after signing from QPR, and has only played once before in the Europa League, due to the fact that he is serving a 12 league game ban which he picked up during his time in the Premier League, after being found guilty of two counts of violent conduct. The midfielder however, is enjoying his new French life so far, and is happy to be away from the English press. âThe English media love to make headlines and dramatise as English football is the number one sport. âI hope that people in France and here in Marseille judge me on what I do here and not in relation to what they read.â Marseille currently sit top of Ligue 1 with 6 wins from their first 6 games, ensuring that it wonât be easy for Barton to step straight into the side. âThere are some very good players here, but when you want to be a big club you must have a team of 15, 16, or 17 players. All players cannot play every week and I hope to bring something different to the team and become an important member,â he added.

There's something stinky about all this. The guy had a shockingly poor season at QPR and topped it off with a bout of psychopathic violence on the final day. And yet he is sunning himself in the south of France and is about to play in a major European tournament while his beleaguered ex team mates struggle at the foot of the PL. Justice anyone.
I admire Barton more for his choice at the moment ... seriously four days back and this country is really lost ... from brainwashing TV to a Corporate Culture that reeks of David Brent's breast milk. Great geography but us English are really in trouble in our heads.

Would I cause offence if I mentioned the fact that your rampant francophilia can get a bit tiresome sometimes? Will you be still singing France's praises when the cities go up in a conflagration of intolerance? As with many Brits you can hide yourself away in rural isolation where the struggles of the inner cities seem a very long way away but please let's not pretend all is well in the land of frogs legs and farmers subsidies. We may have our problems back here in Britain (not least the ridiculous Socialist/Fascist coalition now running the place) but I think we are at least headed in the right direction far quicker than France in terms of our culture and our attitudes. "Socialist/Fascist" is a bit harsh, they're just thieving corrupt ****s with blood on their hands. Come the day up against the wall the lot of them. Blair alone was responsible for more deaths and war crimes than true fascists who got hung for war crimes at the Tokyo and Nuremberg trials. The problem isn't France or the UK or even the US but the system which is fundementally rotten to the core. Fractional Reserve Banking is one simple example.
Sorry i couldn't disagree more, yes there are problems but the French do get results, we talk about it ... there is a big difference. As for culture ... goodness the gulf there is vast for all to see ... They deservedly pride themselves in their culture and protect it whereas we have sold ours a long time ago. I have to have city life as well as my country roots so see a good cross sectioning both countries ... I am no Peter Mayle I can assure you. I would state that London is exempt from discussion as IMO it's a country now in its own right. As with most cities in Europe any one of them could explode at anytime France isn't unique there.
Good points, I am just a man that got sick of what my country was doing ... Can anyone stand up and say the last 20 years has been something to be proud of?. I taste and see a vast gulf between the France I know and the England I used to know. For me its this simple without the liars of the financial system which is held like a limpet to the UK shores England/London is basically ****ed to bits.

No problem my friend ..nothing you and i can do about it anyway. I just think it's time for me to enjoy my life and find it very hard here designing for evil insurance companies today when this time last week i was swimming naked in a river. I am surrounded by drama here, people who play out the same rubbish each day. I would by all counts be a total hypocrite anyway as I would soon get sick of the travelling to Loftus Road from Montpellier via Gatwick and will need to stay here anyway
