To get an England call up? Andy Carroll has been out for a month and got called up, yet BZ still cant get in. Zamora has scored four times in about 6 games!!!
I would have thought Lambert would have been in with a shot and today's Telegraph reckons Hooper could be in with a shout?
Carroll played well last time he was available for England so it makes sense that the manager would pick him again particularly if he is looking for an aerial threat. The average dwarf has a better chance of beating defenders in the air than BZ.
Well no not really, but putting club allegiances aside for a moment - dont you agree that zamora who has played most minutes in the last month for us and scored 4, and had played quite well deserves to be called up before carroll who has played what 20mins of football? Shows exactly what is wrong with England. Its picked on 'name' and status rather than the players actually in form.
its funny that even after being so pivotal in our play and scoring 4 in 6, some people still want Cisse up front on his own.
Yes I agree, despite him getting dissed by some of his own, on his day, he's the best English hold up and lay player in the Prem. I think his chance has gone though.
He has been in top form for us so I cant see why his chance should have gone as you say, but its looks as if you are right - Hodgson is not picking players on merit. It seems the media's perception of players goes a long way to picking the squads.
The performance he put in against Arsenal last spring was truly awesome, and I think he is a very consistent performer, it's just the work he puts in isn't as visible as some others. Bet CBs hate playing against him. Sad for him if he wants to play for England, but personally delighted its unlikely to happen. Roy would have told someone on a bus or in the queue at the post office by now.
I heard an interview with Hodgson today and he said he was looking at building a squad for the future. That was one of the reasons he said he called up Shawcross rather than Rio. I have to agree in terms of English strikers Zamora is on form and doing well for you guys and on merit he should be in the squad. Looking to the future though he will be 33 by the time the next Euros come around. Unfortunately for Zamora I think his time has gone.
Personally hope he doesnt get called up and stays fit for us !! Could not care less about our national squad at the moment !... #absolutefarce
