Racing today comes from Warwick, Southwell, Bangor and Wolverhampton. An interesting race today, looks to be the Final of the Flat Sprint Series at Warwick. It's wide open and full of value. (If you can find the winner.) I thought Best Trip had to be as goos a chance as any other. He's won over this distance on this course and comes into this with a nice third in a big field in the Ayr Bronze, under his belt. WARWICK. 14:40 Danz Choice. Jeff. SECOND 9-1. 16:40 Mcbirney. Jongleur. X 17:10 Best Trip. cyc. SECOND 7-2. SOUTHWELL. 17:30 Mudhish. Shearer. X 17:30 Monzino. Roto. X BANGOR. 15:50 Marchand D'Argent. Jeff. X WOLVERHAMPTON. "No one loves the man whom he fears. - Aristotle" Man who go through turnstile sideways is going to Bangkok- and bang it even more when he gets there. Tamworth widower. Cyclonic. PS. I hope Best Trip wins. If you nip down to the course and feed him some prunes, then he'll give you a good run for your money!
Continuing my focus on novices and there are some nice ones out at Bangor today: 2.50 Novice Chase - I have been really taken with Alpine Breeze in her 2 victories over fences to date, in which she has forged a useful looking partnership with 5lb claimer Peter Carberry. She is a strong travelling mare who can really put a race to bed with a nice turn of foot and, although far from foot perfect at her fences, I think she can progress enough to take this today. The McCain and Curtis runners clearly warrant respect and this should be a fascinating little race. 3.20 Juvenile Hurdle - Don McCain likes to introduce nice types at his local track and Right To Rule could make a very useful hurdler. This son of Rock Of Gibraltar has had 3 runs on the flat for William Haggas, on debut he was a neck 2nd to none other than the prolific Sir Graham Wade and broke his duck at the 3rd attempt, staying on well over 10F to win at Newcastle. Of those to have seen a hurdle in public, Kealshore Again has a fine 2nd behind McCain's Indepub to his name and he should go well again, whilst any Mark Tompkins juvenile is of interest and My Guardian Angel should be watched on debut. 4.20 Mares Novice Hurdle - David Pipe's filly Too Generous dead-heated on her bumper debut before following up in very nice style at Newton Abbot a month ago. There are, however, a number of previous winners in this field so it will be no easy task and if Too Generous can prevail today it will mark her down as a very decent novice. Best of luck everybody
Oddy, the latter two are both horses I was interested in when I had a look at the card last night. I am not betting on the races but I hope both run good races and it will be interesting to see the results. Good luck!
Only one for me today as I'm snowed under at work. Warwick 2.40 DANZ CHOICE 13/2 Handled the trip well when stepped up to 7f last time out and would have gone close with a clear run. Hughes on board, should handle the ground.
16:40 Warwick - Mcbirney e/w (Not with great confidence, must say, but with so many question marks against many in this race, he might run reasonably well. 6lbs. below last winning mark, and should handle the ground; e/w at current best price of 10/1 (BOG of course) probably the best way to go about it). GL today everyone!
As you probably know, am well aquainted with Thailand, but pleased to advise that I never got 'injured' there. However, have always avoided narrow turnstiles and have been known to refuse myself entrance sometimes....... please log in to view this image
lucky e/w 15 and e/w accy Ready 16/1 4.10 Warwick Trojan Rocket 13/2 5.10 Warwick Mudhish 7/1 NAP 5.30 Southwell Josies Dream 7/1 5.45 Warwick
Bangor 3:50 Marchand D'Argent looks like he should go close if jumping better, goes well at Bangor and is a decent price at 14/1
5.30 Southwell Monzino 20/1 I think 20/1 is a very good price for Michael Chapman's 4 year old who looks a far better horse on the AW surfaces. He won over 7f at the track on handicap debut off a mark of 60 back in July and he followed that up with a good 3rd off this mark over todays C+D 6 days later as he just couldn't concede 17lb in racing weight to the two in front of him. After an average effort on the turf in first time blinkers, he ran a very eye catching 4L 5th at Wolves off a mark of 65 3 starts back in August when flashing home at the finish. His last two efforts back on the turf have been pretty poor but now returned to the fibresand at Southwell I think he could definitely bounce back to form. First time cheekpieces replace blinkers and if they liven him back up then I think he should run a good race at a nice e/w price.
Monzino stayed on to be 6th I think after missing the break badly. If he ever goes over 10f at Southwell I'll be lumping on.
3.30 Ascot: Martin Chuzzlewhit 9/1 Might be his time to strike at rewarding odds here. I think the market takes his poorer form on quicker ground over this course and distance far too literally. His form absolutely screams he is a bettern animal with some cut and the weather will help his case now. Stamina will be no issue and I think he has a great chance at a good price.
