Yes it's a high price but it would be money well spent in my opinion. I wouldn't want to wait a year, we need to have a strong squad for next season. We need a new CB regardless and I would rather spend a little bit more to bring in quality like Ayala. He's played 27 times in the Championship this season and by all accounts has looked the real deal. If we was to bring in Hobbs or Gerrard we would be looking at ã1.5-2 million because they both have longer deals left. I know who I would choose.
I wouldn't want to pay the same for Ayala as Spurs paid for Assou-Ekotto. Get whoever we get at a sensible price or look abroad and get just as good a player for less money.
and then get them used to the english game & language.. or just go for ayala who's already well settled in england and has experience in the leagues. he's worth whatever we pay for the kid im sure.
I'm not sure how much Ayala would cost, 2m tops I'd think. Anyway, he's both a class act and one for the future so I'd be elated if we brought him in. Him and Chester at the back could work really well. We've got Ayala who's big, a good header of the ball and tackler who's also good on the ball. Chester reads the game well, defends well all round and effortlessly distributes the ball around the defence/midfield. As back-up we can have Cooper out on loan with a 24 hour recall and either Hobbs/Gerrard depending on prices.
Chester ã300k, Stewart ã300k, Evans ã300k(possibly rising to ã500k), we've set out our stall, we'll be looking to pay about ã500k for Ayala(possibly a bit more, but if the price runs into millions, we'll just look elsewhere).
is it your money? would that ã3 million you want to spend stop us signing three more players, including the left winger and strong forward we so desire?
If we do agree a reasonable fee for Ayala, wouldn't there be a good chance it would be a structured deal like Simpson's?
AHA! Sense at last. If the fee for Ayala does run into millions it will be a reflection of what he achieves. In other words Adam will say to liverpool, look if this lad is as good as you say, we'll pay you another million or so when he helps us get to the Premiership, and if we sell him on because he is as good as you say we'll pay you half the fee we get for him. Nobody at HCFC will be paying ã3m cash, but Ayala will be a Tiger.
Joe dudgeon, young man united left back. Not seen any substance necessarily but not beyond the realms of possibility
Phfewww!!! Thought you were talking about James for a minute!!!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Dudgeon
Febbos, Goole is a town just outside of Hull... i'm guessing it's his retirement club though he must be very **** if his career peaked at York.
May I add, just before going to bed, Nigel Clough had an interview with SSN about their summer transfers. He said that there was 3 loans he'd like to make perminents. I was just waiting for Daniel Ayala to be one of those 3 so I could think to myself that he (Clough) actually thought he had a chance with Ayala, but he didn't mention him. I think he knows we are the only contenders to get him now...
I think Cloughie Junior might just have noticed Our Danny Boy embracing Nigel Pearson and applauding OUR fans after the victory at Pride Park. Tells it's own story really!!
