He's expected to be named in the England squad tomorrow apparently, not sure how I feel about this now the derby is looming.

On one hand it's more minutes on the pitch for him and a chance to play himself into form but on the other hand another chance of getting injured.

    Good or Bad?

Good overall I'd say, it'll give him a chance to get back up to match speed and get his confidence back up. Also it's good for us to finally have a regular England international in the squad for the first time in ages (unless you count Bent, who for some inexplicable reason didn't get a chance until he moved to the "massive club" Villa. I think Johnson will start on the bench though, which will probably be wise.

To be fair Bent was starting to get his chance at Sunderland and scored his first England goal whilst he was an Safc player.

Johnson was head and shoulders above everyone on the pitch against Italy and should be a starter

Got to agree - the lad needs as much playing time as possible.

To be honest i can't see how he warrants a place, not fit, not playing particularly well (cos of fitness) how can they pick him?

cos he wears red and white mate in my book thats enough to warrant it, as i've seen some highly rated dross, play in an England shirt and couldn't be bothered

Sorry guys but I think its brilliant. AS with Steven Fletcher back in the Scottish squad, to have England internationals playing for SAFC is a great advert for the club and ensures that any potential future signings can see that we are a club that can get you into your national team.

    Fantastic imo.

Don't forget that he jacked man city in coz they weren't playing him and it cost him his England place

It is something he values highly and should be respected

Fully agree mate but he hasn't played much for us so how can he get a game for the national team? Don't get me wrong, i'm chuffed he has been selected , he needs game time but if i were Milner i'd be well pissed off if AJ got in ahead of me.
