Just wondering about the Ayala situation. I didn't hear AP's interview regarding signing him - exactly how positive was he? Noticed the derby 'footymad' forum and there is a bit of talk on there about their chairman being very confident they'd get him at least for another season. For instance in this thread there is a brief mention http://boards.footymad.net/forum.php?tno=181&fid=16&sty=2&act=1&mid=2117732250 I personally really hope we can get him but is there enough substance about to suggest he would actually prefer us over them?
Pearson sounded fairly confident that we'd get him, he said the only issue was the price Liverpool were asking, but he thought they'd come to an agreement.
did pearson say it was only likely to be on a permanent in that case? if we could get him permanently then it would be a hell of a coup in my eyes. him alongside hobbs could be quite a partnership.
would prefere Ayala alongside Chester with Rosenier at right back that would be the basis of the best defense in the league next season easily;]
I would love us to get Ayala on a permanent, if we can get him that will be one of the building blocks for our promotion drive next season. I think if we can build a good enough squad we could get automatic, our away record this season shows that we can be consistent.
No chance of Liverpool letting Ayala go on a permanent, loans the only option hes one for the future for them.
A Liverpool fan came over here and said that he could see it happen. They were going to bring in other starting players+ they had "more promising" youth players coming up
They've got another 4 defenders in front of him and they'll be looking towards the younger ones. We have a chance.
He's out of contract next summer, so unless they give him a new contract soon a loan will be as good as a permanent anyway.
That would do me as well. Gerrard has proved to be solid at the back, put he can't seem to pass forward. The square pass to his fellow centre half was always his safest option. With those 4 we would start attacking from the back.
As Adam was talking about coming to an agreement with Liverpool on a transfer fee, it has to be on a permanent.
That back four as posted would be class and really provide the foundation from which to build. I just asked in the first instance as someone who hadn't heard the AP interview and only really read here and on the derby forum who also seem very confident in getting him. Thinking about it, I would definitely be more confident if it was a permanent. I cant see derby spending much if at all in the summer. It would make sense them being interested in a loan
That is probably the best possible defence we could have. Rosenior is just well... Rosenior. Ayala is confident on the ball and a great tackler and header of the ball. Chester has the vision and awareness to take him to the top, only his physical size is a let down but he makes up with his ability to read the game and a good leap aswell. Dudgeon, I don't know much about him but he must be better than Dawson, apparently with a mean throw-in aswell. All topped off with a fit, permanent signing of an injury-free Mannone behind them.
Adam didn't sound too sure of keeping Gerrard. I Really want to see Chester at CB and not in CM. Ayala is quality and I wouldn't be upset if we spent anything upto ã3 million on him.
I would love Ayala to come in alongside Chester, as Chester at CB has looked a class above for me its just a shame we keep moving him about. If we don't manage to get him i woudl not be surprised if NP has another player up his sleeves.
ã3M would be a ridiculous amount for a Championship club to spend on an inexperianced defender with only one year left on his contract. It's what PL clubs are paying for top flight/international experianced defenders. I'd rather wait a year and take it to a tribunal so we can get him for less than ã1M.
by the comment made by Mr Pearson on saturday, I d suggest that he would be happier if the fee was zero! There are surely plenty of other areas of the team worthy of that ã3 million
