No you're right, hitting women has nothing on shagging around. <doh>

You're yet to clarify what exactly I'm "wrong" about.

I judge footballers on there on pitch antics, any off field "heat" style school girl bitch comments don't interest me.

Hypothetical question (because it will never happen) for you Simon, would you accept John Terry as a Leeds United player?

I'd probably still go with no, however I don't think he's as bad as Diouf. Would you accept Marlon King or Lee Hughes?

As I stated in the Bolton v Leeds topic, Diouf may have been made captain for the game tonight, perhaps even for the rest of the season.

Are you sure you know what you're talking about here, Josh? He was cleared by a Judge & jury, as he hadn't broken the law. The FA charge was different to the legal charge he faced, and there is clearly no doubt that he was guilty of that charge. What did you expect the FA to do when there was such overwhelming evidence?

Now there is another question that no-one seems to have asked - would any other players fail that FA charge if they were pursued in the same way as Terry was? I personally think the answer is undoubtedly YES!! It's commonplace, but they're not all so high profile, and they've not been accused, as Terry was. Yet.

A big fine for Terry but only 4 game ban?

Why did Suarez get 8 games for racially abusing Evra?

Think it boils down to Terry simply repeating back Ferdinand's words (in an abusive manner), whilst Suarez was effectively on the attack. FA yet to publish their detailed findings.

No its not, I accept I'm wrong when I believe I have been proven wrong. Maybe its just because I like to have some sort of standard to players, people like Diouf don't deserve their talent. Just because you think the morale thing is a cop out doesn't mean everyone else does.

Okay, as I understand it. Your free to prove me wrong though as I probably don't know it 100% is that Terry was cleared as not guilty by Judge and Jury regarding the racism claims however the FA had a hearing of their own regarding his intent of racism. Which IMO is bullshit, the FA can't tell what people are thinking

The thing is though, Suarez didn't have two hearings and the reason for this was because he was found guilty. But because Terry got away, they couldn't be seen as 'soft' so they had to have another hearing in which he was found guilty. As I said though, I don't know it 100% so if their is something missing, I'd like to know why he was treated so abnormally

Josh, I think the confusion comes from the fact that the legal & FA charges were intrinsically different. The legal charge was one of racism, and he was found not guilty. The FA charge related to him using 'foul & racist language' (NOT 'being racist'), and he was indeed guilty of that. It would appear that his defence of 'simply repeating back Ferdinand's comments' did not stick. I believe the view taken might have been that Ferdinand's comments might have been a mitigating factor, however he remained guilty of his outburst in the public domain. We'll find out the FA's thinking when they release their detailed findings, but I don't think I'll be too far from the mark.

One explanation I heard on R5L was that he was guilty of breaking 'work rules', but was not guilty of 'the law of the land'. Basically, if you're continually late for work, you could be disciplined for it, but harly likely to face legal charges. Hope that helps shed some light on the different charges. Apologies if I've made it worse!

I think you may be right, I still don't think he should have two hearings for the same matter though and think the way the FA went about it was poor. Racism is such a hard thing to police though as your just going on what people have said in the matter with very little concrete evidence on what actually happened. I don't think I am a racist but I have said far more racist things even on this site let alone in real life than what Terry has, I don't think they should police what people say on pitch anyway but thats a different matter. I like to believe that footballers can be a bit more mature than name calling and even more mature by just letting it slide rather than escalating matters even more. I think this brings the game in more disrepute than had nothing come of it

When was the first FA hearing (I am assuming last week's hearing was the second)?

he had a judge a jury one and then an FA one (as far as I am aware) and from my knowledge again Suarez didn't have two separate hearings.
