I wouldn't have my little girl playing outside without adult supervision when she's 5. Kids are still daft at that age, too daft to look after themselves. The parents are to blame - I bet that hour's peace and quiet isn't looking so important now.
I sort of agree but then you don't know how old the other kids she was with were or what sort of area they live in - if it's quiet and not much traffic then...... I wouldn't let a 5 year old play outside mine on their own but that's because it's like Brands ****ing Hatch and even I'm scared to cross the road sometimes!
Speaking as a parent of 2 myself. The fact that she was out confidently playing with friends at that time speaks buckets for the community she lives in. Too many complaints these days about kids not gettin out an about, exercise etc etc. Wher i live the neighbours are out and about checking up all the time. sounds like her community is the same. The underlying here with so many cases like it is just how quickly ****e like this can happen. Look at the Jamie Bulger case and others like it. opportunists an scumbags roam this land unchecked. It says much about us that we immediately suspect family and friends. Poor ****in kid must be ****ting herself where ever she is. I am not religious in any way shape or form, but i pray to whatever god, she gets home safely
Mate, there's no way I'd have a five year old playing outside with her mates full stop, it would be totally irresponsible, more so given that there are predatory nonce ****s about. My daughter is only three months old, But my godsons brother is 5, he's a belting little kid, very bright and very intuitive but the thought of him being out and about with no supervision is just ludicrous.
My young 'un is nine and hardly ever plays in the street with her mates. She does play unsupervised in the back garden (or did until she put the footbal through the greenhouse window)
There has always been dirtbirds about, it's just now they are a tabloid favourite and the reason things like this are all over the news is that it's so rare. The vast majority of child abuse is within the family, you gonna stop your brother/sister/Ma/Da babysitting? From what I see the wee girl was playing in a very quiet village with her friends, some would be older, and some **** has been cruising looking for a child (the same cops are investigating an attempted abduction not too far away) There is nothing without risk be it crossing the road or eating food. I would bet that a lot more kids died last year by choking on food than were killed by child murderers.
Can't disagree with that. One thing that concerns me is the seemingly increasing number of looney fathers who stab their young kids to death because their partners have had enough of their selfish ways. Like that **** the other day.
That's becoming a habit. A lot of it would be to do with the **** hand that fathers get dealt through the courts regarding access to their kids although it's no excuse of course. The Mirror today laid the blame for him doing that at the door of the IRA as the guy was there when they blew up Hyde Park 30 years ago
No, it's not the parents' fault a ***** is on the prowl, but it's their fault that their daughter was such easy prey.
