As i have stated before, i am not Hughes biggest fan, his lack of personality and tactical awareness baffles me! We had players injured fair enough but isn't that the reason you have a squad! He could have bought another defender but didn't! Why can the majority see what he can't? Park a captain who can't speak English! , SWP a player who hasn't had more than a decent game for about 5 years getting picked over our two most creative players at the club! Yeah yeah we need time to gel, they didn't follow instructions, made the wrong decisions etc etc, this all lies at the managers door! If Adel wasn't %100 fit then surely you start him at home with a view to bringing him off if and when he's worked his magic! To those Adel doubters out there, watch his movement and passing, i don't want him running back tackling and neither should Hughes. We have a others who have only the ability to run and tackle! Onohua!! Sunday league player if ever i saw one! Hill tries hard, not good enough at this level! My main concern is that Qpr have put all their eggs in one basket regarding Hughes and his backroom team and therefore won't get rid but will pull out the usual garbage of it will take time etc etc , just the opposite of what they gave warnock! All the happy clappers can say be positive, its early days but if you can name me something positive during hughes reign then i may take note and don't try fooling me into thinking he kept us up last season because in reality we relied on Stoke and a little luck not managerial ability! Hughes must go!!
good call bob, hughes is on a sticky wicket but will that be the answer to get rid i don't think so yet, that game last night cried out for the likes of tarbs & hoilett with there skill & i'm sure result would have been different, look when they came on they was scared of them with there weaving in & out, just don't know what to think lately.
Good stuff Bob but I would of thought as a respected football man you know how to eat pressure. Adel is the answer he is a wonderful player and in the second he played a pass that most of the pub groaned about only to then applaud it ... His brain and ability is way ahead a true master. Not a great performance by Hughes but he is making headway so not need for him to go Keep working and it will come
Fair points Bob, but I won't be calling for his head just yet. His inability to see the obvious is starting to worry me though. For a home game last night he started with SWP and Park instead if attacking flair in Adel and Hoillett. That's a worry against a team that most felt we could beat. He also seems to be very slow to see the necessary changes. It's a real worry.
Have to say I agree with all of that, especially Onohua and it baffles me why he doesn't play Hoillett. 0-2 down at home at half time and didn't make a single change, everyone in the ground could see Park was not in the game and looked liked a teenage boy playing with men. Hughes has surrounding himself with his expensive buddies of the field - Mike Rigg etc, so TF will be less likely to pull the trigger before Xmas.
Inability to see the obvious and react quick. Onuha was awful...but the real problem was we didn't pick up on the fact we were tactically outplayed in midfield and Sparky was so slow to pick up on this. Taarbs and Junior are similar players...why not play them 45 min each EVERY MATCH.
What does my head in with Hughes is that he has NO tactical awareness what-so-ever.....he puts out the same stupid formation that was under par at Reading......having Granero and Faurlin in the middle effectivley on their own....playing the wide players Park on the left (totally out of position) SWP on the wide right leaving a HUGE gaping hole in the middle where Nolan bossed the midfield. The game was crying out for that hole to be plugged, even more so with our current defensive problems and he still stuck with the slow and luxury players of Granero and Faurlin together. As soon as Diakite came on that hole was plugged and it was a completely different game....Im not a person to say sack the manager, but I cant see us going anywhere with him moving forward....he has never won away from home and this is our worst start in longer than my lifetime!
The thing is that for me West Ham are a big bruising physical side with the likes of Nolan nipping away at people. You beat teams like this with skill. Killer passes, creative wing play, moments of genius. Hughes opts for the 'plenty of running' approach with JSP and SWP. There is nothing wrong with that but not flair or end product. I think the Taraabt being injured was a smokescreen. Hughes says Adel needs to work harder in training. We all know (rightly or wrongly) that isn't Adel at all. Hes a pampered genius, for me the natural lineage of Stan & Rodney. You can't drum creative players into grinding routines. My take is that Hughes is trying to mould us into something we will never be. We are not grind it out 1 nil merchants, no we are 3-2 winners or losers
Very wise words from both Bob and WBA here. Hughes has a decent track record and a reasonable squad to work with so it can still be recovered IMO but a) he definitely screwed up by failing to attract a centre back (and striker) over the summer and b) he needs to accept that his current approach is not working. Tactics need to be adapted to suit the opposition and the controlled approach that worked well against Scum and Spurs stood no chance against Allardyce's pit bulls.
Apparently an early morning meeting this morning with Directors and Manager.....Hughes clearly getting a telling off. Hope he sorts it out...I dont want him to fail and we have a good squad....just needs to hurry up as im sick of walking into work to a torrent of abuse from Reading and Man Utd fans.
he needs to stop making excuses about injuries and get it sorted, or peoples patients will run out if it hasnt already
if tarbs and hoilett started we would have one simples .....2-0 down 60 min should have brought diakite tarbs and hoilet on at same time!! wallop !! west ham would have had no answers for there agility skill and drive going forward , they were on the ropes when diakite got sent off ....so frustrating...
Hes too negative to do that, he always waits until its too late. Id have made a change at 2-0 in the 1st half, another one at HT and then the final one with 20 to go if were still losing. Hes got the tactical ability of Holloway or Warnock. He still can see things even when they are staring him in the face.
