I've said it a few times before on here but we are really lacking a proper leader and captain.

Nolan last night really highlighted to me that this is chronically the case. He managed the players well and was always encouraging and working on the team.

We have had a quiet little Korean an egotistical intellectual thug and a flashy kid from morocco as captain over the past 3 years.

We need a rock and a leader. Without this type of player the mythical gelling is made much harder.

There was one point when the ref was asking to talk to Park to calm Granero down (he's a feisty little bugger), and JSP looked genuinely bemused to be called over. Plus when their defender was concussed in the first half and the players were gathered in the middle, he was off on his own....
Having said that I think the captain position is largely honourary, and if its good for marketing, who cares? What we need are leaders - Derry was a great example, no arm band but it was he who channeled info from both Warnock AND Hughes last season during breaks in play. Nelsen, Faurlin, possibly Granero and from what I saw last night M'bia are all leaders.
Don't get wound up about an armband.

In regards to your avatar .................. there is an 'S' missing from 'toy' ........ let's face it, there is enough room to sew it!

In regards to the thread ................ 'We need a leader' ............ I'm too mesmerised by the missing 'S' ............ sorry, it is now your fault I can't answer this thread.

M'Bia for me looks a very natural leader....constantly bossing the Defence about and organising and look like a natural Aplpha male......not sure how good his Anglais is.

SB I agree that the arm band is somewhat symbolic but by the same token it shouldn't be held by someone who shows little leadership skills (as in the case of park ) as this can confuse and divide the players in my opinion.

As long as the players KNOW its symbolic and that Nelsen or whoever is the on pitch leader it's fine. Agree that it doesn't look like this is the case though!
