Over the years we have heard "strange"things coming from managers. Alf Ramsey telling us that Martin Peters was "10 years ahead of his time". Bill Shankly telling us that "football is not life or death. It's more important than that!" But I think my favourite manager moment was watching Bob Stokoe running gown the Wembley field with his arms outstretched to grab the Sunderland"s goalkeeper after his heroics keeping Leeds from scoring and winning the cup. Oh!....and watching a certain Arsenal manager throwing water bottles.........!
One of my favourite manager moments was seeing AVB jumping up and down in sheer joy after shoving it down the critics throats by helping our club break the United hoodoo!!
I think the display was more for himself as he's under pressure and he knows it. He must feel relieved. Can't think of any quotes.
"Oh, sweet fcuking Jesus! Yes! This is beautiful! I love you, dear God, for saving my poor, unworthy arse! Oh, yes! I could kiss a donkey!"* I should imagine that these are the kinds of things that AVB would have been quoted as saying, if only a reporter had been close enough to him to record it. *Kissing donkeys is something of a tradition for Portuguese men.
Gordon Strachan is one of my favourite 'quoted' managers. Rarely fails to make me smile. Some classics to be found here: http://www.thecelticwiki.com/page/Gordon Strachan - Quotes
