Just watched Noble for west ham do exactly the same (if not worse) than Cattermole did against Mk Dons. Yellow card (ref 10 feet away). Unbelievable how certain teams get away with it yet Cattermole doesn't isn't it
Cattermole = New Joey Barton. A fantastic player in form, but then makes silly tackles and decisions.
Catts is no Barton like, sure his tackling is poor at times but he doesn't assault players on and off the pitch.
Tash you obviously just believe the reputation the media has built regarding Cattermole as anyone who consistently watches him knows he doesn't make tackles to hurt people. Also Catts can't pass? Think you mean Tiote mate aside his assist for Bas goal at reading he's terrible.
Actually, I've watched Catts plenty of times, and the **** just ****s up too many times. The derbies for one point, he should have been sent off in each of the last 3 of them! He's lucky that he hasn't broken Jonas' legs.
Catts for me like marra. Next you'll be telling me how scared of Cattermole he is and how much Cattermole bossed him in the last derby hurr de hurr hurr
Suppose Tiote and Cabaye shouldn't have been sent off should they?? His challenge on Tiote in the last derby was nowhere near as bad as Tiote (the cheat) made it out to be - rolled around until he got booked then Tiote got up and was fine for the rest of the gamer - whereas Tiote intentionally stamped on and raked studs down Cattermoles achilles and got nothing! His challenge against the Dons was very similatr to Noble's challenge last night, nowehere near as bad a Luiz's challenge last week and not as ba as Barry's challenge midwekk - yet only one of the 4 players got sent off. I'd rather have Cattermole in my team than Tiote any day - much rather have an honest 100% player than a sly cheat
Can anyone get the win ratios for players? tried looking last night, and couldnt find. What % of games have we won with Catts in the team and what % when he wasnt ? I'd also like to see the same stats for Mignolet.
I'd class many of his tackles as assault. Seriously though you can't compare Barton and Cattermole because of Bartons off the pitch behaviour. Fair enough the Man City crack was lunacy but on the pitch in general I'd say Cattermole is worse, as backed up by his red card count but some of Bartons off field behaviour is more than unsavoury. Sorry but with Cattermole this is not all about reputation though. His red card count is what it is for a reason, and it ain't card happy refs. The lad is filth in the tackle. He was at Boro, at Wigan and now at Sunderland. He just needs to rein himself in, get some anger management and concentrate on football. He's actually not bad at it when he concentrates on it. He's not only brought the reputation on himself, he regulalrly seems to want to add substance to it. This means any marginal decisions go against him, which is just human nature. I do think he has been harshly treated on occasion but it is very difficult to have sympathy with him. I love how Cabaye and Tiote are put up as examples of similar characters. Its laughable beyond belief. They have their moments and are certainly no angels. But if anyone actually thinks they are comparable to Mr Cattermole's disciplinary issues, they are mad as a *****ose.
You can't compare Barton and Catts on or off the pitch.....Cattermole doesn't punch players during games, pick them up by their necks, stud a player in the balls on purpose (Etuhu) or knee players in the back. My point was he clearly doesn't go into tackles wanting to hurt other players. They are honest attempts to win the ball however badly timed or rash they may be. (Derby challenge on Tiote was bad, but was meant to wind the mags players up and worked as he bossed the first half). Fans love a player who is tough tackling and Cattermole will never back down out of a challenge in front of a crowd and he wont change the way he plays. This will probably result in more reds in the future.
