    Top Scorers
    1 - D. Ba (Newcastle) - 6 Goals

    2 - S. Fletcher (Sunderland) - 5 Goals

    = - L. Suarez (Liverpool) - 5 Goals

    = - R. van Persie (Man Utd) - 5 Goals

    5 - P. Crouch (Stoke) - 4 Goals

I feel the player who will benefit most from yesterdays game is Luis Suarez.

He´s well on course for 20 prem goals, which I feel would be a massive step forward for him.

I don't want to jinx it it, but I agree. He's always had the potential, but it's never quite clicked for him and so this could be his breakthrough season. He's had some bad luck, and last year was a bit of a write-off what with his ludicrously lengthy ban and then the subsequent psychological fall-out.

If we can just get two more quality strikers to both complement him and also reduce our reliance on him then he will certainly show his full potential: which is huge.

He's unplayable when he's on fire. He needs to be more consistent though. If he gets us 20 plus then I bet he'll create an equal number as well. Can only be good for us.

Didn't Luis Suarez get a shed-load of goals for Ajax, so it isn't as if scoring is alien to him. Continue to slide balls like he received yeserday around the penalty and he'll deliver the goods!!

  6. Yes, he got a hat-trick and all three goals were superbly taken, but I think people need to keep their feet on the ground here. Look at the chances he missed, the one-on-one with the keeper should be bread and butter for a striker...he was three yards wide!!! When he starts bagging the easy chances my confidence in his goalscoring abilities will go up. Hell, even Walcott bags a hat-trick at some point each season <doh>

As for the hope of him getting twenty goals, I'll be pissed off if he doesn't, twenty should be the bare minimum target for a forward at a club like ours, especially considering the number of chances we create. However, we need that thirty goal a season striker or a second twenty goal a season striker to complement Suarez <ok>

Yup. 81 goals in 110 league games. Not a bad record!

  8. Dirk Kuyt had a superb record in the dutch league too. Rule of thumb suggests striker get a third of the goals in England <ok>

There's always exceptions to the rule, like Van Nistelrooy. And Van Persie.

Maybe if we change his name to Van Suarez he'll score more.

  10. I like, especially if no one tells the referees, he might get some foals awarded then too <ok>

I can only think of that one chance where he missed, the other chances he got he scored.

He's also got 5 league goals already and there's only been 5 games. Last year he got 11 league goals over the course of a season, he did miss 8 games though. But like you said, I'd be disappointed if he didn't score at least 20 goals this season.

Generally, remember Kezman ? Another one who turned out rubbish.

Talking about Dutch forward´s just had a flashback of Pierre Van hooijdonk, what a player he was...on his day anyway.

  13. I think the it is a bit of a red herring when you say five goals in six games considering he got a hat-tick yesterday. He did very well yesterday and you are possibly right to say he only missed one other (I can't remember) but my point was that that chance he missed was the easiest and a chance that he SHOULD be scoring. It is not just yesterdays game either, he misses far too many chances with a lot of them being 'easy striker chances' too <ok>

  14. When he wasn't AWOL sulking <ok>

PS - I was at the game in which he returned for Forest, it ended 2-2 against Derby and when PVH scored none of the Forest players celebrated with him <laugh>

Totally different. He went to Chelsea where they ruined him.

Crespo, Mutu, Kezman, Torres and Shevchenko.

Anyway, Suarez, one of the numpties on ssn summed him up well.... Scorer of great goals, not a great goal scorer.

I think if we can get someone in who can score them types of goals then Suarez can do his stuff and set up the easy types of goals whilst contributing here and there with the harder type of goals he scored yesterday.

And yeh he scored a hat trick but my point was more the fact that he only needs 6 more goals in the league to be where he was last season in terms of goals - any other goals from then on is just obviously a bonus <ok>

Hopefully once Borini is settle and grabs a few goals to build his confidence he will start to put away the simple chances.

What is it with us and buying players who can't put the ball in the net? Especially the piss easy chances <grr>

I think with Rodgers, he likes his striker to be more than just a striker.

That's fair enough, but it would help if they can do what a strikers asked to do and stick the ball in the net first :D
