Robert Green has been told he can leave Queens Park Rangers for NOTHING – just three months after signing for the club.

Former England *goalkeeper Green joined QPR from the club’s *opponents tomorrow night, West Ham, after he rejected a new contract at Upton Park.

But his decision swiftly backfired as Rangers signed *Brazil international Julio Cesar – and Green was immediately dropped to the bench.

Now, Green has been told by manager Mark Hughes that he is already surplus to *requirements and he will be allowed to leave the Hoops on a free transfer, if he can find a new club.

The shot-stopper is *currently being paid around £50,000 a week by QPR, making him one of the highest-paid reserve *goalkeepers in the Premier League.

Unless you have Hart, Cech, Casillas, Neur, Valdes or Buffon as your keeper then you would be pretty stupid to turn down someone of the quality of Cesar. Green was as good as we could of hoped for at the time. But when someone of the calibre of Cesar became available ( I still have to pinch myself that we have signed him. ) then you have to grab it. Sorry Rob, but your not in the same league mate. I would loved you to have done well with us but it seems that is now unlikely. A good number two but if you don't fancy being that behind Cesar then move on. It's a shame but there you go.

Some of you seem to be suggesting when MH signed Green he already had Cesar lined up?? In which case, yes silly move.

No chance, he knew he made a mistake and Boruc saying we were after him before choosing Cesar is confirmation of that.

The funny thing is the vat majority of fans didnt want Green.

Haven't studied Green's career but we all saw that howler for England. The fact that Green got to international level in the first place, suggested it was a one-off.

Heard little or nothing after that that other than that he did well for WHU during their promotion campaign last season. Was both surprised and concerned when Hughes signed him tbh but thought der management must know more than me.

However, soon as I watched Green climb pretty much unchallenged for a high cross at the edge of the box against Persebaya - and drop the ball for their front man to fire into an empty net - I knew we'd got ourselves a wrong 'un. The next few games confirmed that. Paddy Kenny was pissing himself laughing.

My point is how come with all their experience, the money-spinning Hughes management team would venture where numpty fans like me would fear to tread? Just doesn't make sense. If Green's now considered to be beyond redemption, what price der management team that hoovered him up in the first place? Smacks of desperation to me, especially when keepers of Cesar's quality were clearly out there waiting in the wings.

So is this another 'Hughes Out' cry? Not really - but that doesn't mean the truth shouldn't be told. TF's recent 'keep the faith' tweet speaks volumes to me for one...

believe what you will from british red tops, they churn out stories just to sell papers when there is little or no real news about.put it this way every club in the top flight needs a decent back up keeper and green is a decent keeper compared to some in the past.

since we started spending money on players the press has been all over us like a rash because we make news, and now the transfer market has closed they are getting bored.as for green being on 50k a week that again is conjecture as they don't know.

whatever green is earning was agreed between him and the club and he will be here for a while as it breeds healthy competition unless he requests a move through lack of first team appearances.if you ask me this mirror story is rubbish.

It was a huge mistake, both Boruc and Gordon were out there at that time and both were better than Green. But weve now got Cesar who a step up from all of them so it worked out well for us in the end.

Hughes signings have been bad, they are good if you look at them individually but hes signed so many midfielders that good players wont even make the bench but so few attackers that we dont even have a forward on the bench and our defence are down to the bare bones already.

The thing is, you can't sign players based on what the fans think. You appoint a Manager/coach to run the entire football side of things for the club and trust their judgement.

Spurs have a couple of good keepers in Friedel & Lloris, Man Utd with Lindegaard & De Gea, so why can't we maintain a couple top keepers in our squad with Cesar & Green? Keeps them honest, provides opportunity for possible rotation and maintains quality cover if one gets injured. Look at the problems we had last season with Kenny first carrying an issue, then out injured, Cerny filling in (did a great job) also apparently carrying some sort of problem, then Kenny returning, but obviously not 100% fit.

Great to have 2 good keepers, Yes. But Green is not a good Keeper No. As others have said most of us no-nothing supporters knew Green was not a good Keeper - why didn't Hughes and his staff?

Because Green is not a top keeper.
