http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19714258 My point of view on this saga has to be that Kean has been treated by both Blackburns board and fans with nothing but utter contempt, the guy has remained mostly dignified through it all and genuinely seems to have the club at heart. He is surrounded by a board of rank amateurs who have absolutely no idea how to run a football club and fans who call Talksport and wish on air for a resounding loss for their team. (I kid you not!) in order to get rid of him. (That will really help to motivate the players wont it!) He has shown more dignity and mettle through it all than the lot of them and they currently sit 3rd in the table despite all the predictions of dropping straight through the league. I cant say I am overly aware of his managerial abilities but it seems to me the players do want to play for him and we all know thats at least half the battle, he's allowed to buy Jordan Rhodes and then completely undermined by his board every time they speak. I dont know why he bothers...
Know what your saying Banksy but 'I dont know why he bothers...' - £10 grand a week ? I have little sympathy for players or managers who earn megabucks. Football has gone absolutely mad. I know it's not nice, but they're happy to receive the dosh, let them put up with the crap that might go with it. And anyway he's probably laughing out of his £10grand a week backside at fans who scream abuse and the idiots who employ him. I would.
Its a joke alright, but probably a well paid one and that covers a lot of other problems in today's game. Unfortunately.
That's foreign ownership in a nutshell for you and I understand that Chanrai thingy is attempting to take over Pompey for a third time. Don't remember the first two times being a raving success and it just goes to show that the leagues and their due diligence policies are about as useful as a hat rack to a moose. Football has gone crazy and the insanity does't seem able to stop.
Chanrai is loving it, I believe he made a tidy profit both times and in addition I think he still owns the ground which is scuppering any chance of a new buyer taking over the lot every time...
The fans don't rate him because he plays players out of position and changes a winning team. We can't really judge as we only see from a distance.
I'm with this guy He's out of his depth but still in charge, I feel sorry for the fans and what they're having to go through
The reason the fans don't like Kean is because he's weaseled his way into the job with false promises. He's like Millen, if Millen had called Brian Tinnion a "****ing crook", promised the fans a good cup run and several millions on marque players.
Thanks for your replies. I personally can't relate how much money he is paid to his circumstances, he is being paid in line with what anyone else doing that job would get. (probably less knowing this Venkys shambles) and as far as "what the fans must be going through" well, it must be truly horrific having to play Championship football and buy the likes of Jordan Rhodes to play up front with Nuno Gomes with your £12m parachute payment. Ask Bristol Rovers if they would swap places? (thats what you call horrific!) If he is left around long enough to get them back up he will probably be a hero for a day or two and then told thanks for that but we're moving on.
I never really liked the man but at least he has walked with honour, unlike our Miss Milly who hung on in there for personal gain until he got the deserved boot...
So I'm confused... With the 'he's their Keith Millen' comments. Why, for any reason, should we dislike Millen? What did he do to earn the ire of City fans besides struggling with the job? Same with Terry Connor, or Kean. People out of their depth who've shown loyalty when the ownership has messed up and not found a better replacement aren't assholes by default.
Yes for having no honour and being totally inept at the job, taking us perilously close to relegation. Look at the contrast between Millen and a proper manager in Del.
That's exactly why he is their version with the players Blackburn have they shouldn't have been relegated he was not up to the job should've gone when they went down
