Yeah that's a definite possibility. His career will defo be winding down now and the subs bench is beckoning. I still want to see him played as a forward player. He's one of our best finishers and his play in the final third and link up with Suarez is great. Plus, that far up the pitch he's unlikely to try the hollywood pass, which is what most people criticise him for these days. Problem solved, for player and team.
I noticed it as well, and I thought it was a variation, at least, on training ground moves. As soon as he let go of the ball Suso looked up expecting to see someone coming in on it. Teamwork, not individualism. It can only be good for the future.
With pass and move football like this, with the wide men working and midfielders getting in the box, I can see us having games in the future with out needing a centre forward. These young players are adapting very well.
the best bit of the goal is sinclairs frustrated jump when he misses the chance to tap in with his first liverpool touch
It was indeed a well crafted goal. But let's not get carried away here with talk of putting Gerrard on the bench as a plan B. When it works its good but how will these kids get on playing like that on a rainy cold night in Rochdale?
Was about the say the exact same thing about Sinclair. His movement in then out drew their left back in to try and cover him, which left the space open for Assaidi to then roll the ball across.
Maybe I'm doing him a disservice but I thought he was looking across to the linesman to see if he was onside - in the same way Sahin did when he scored...
Its like talking to a brick wall on the Gerrard subject these days Dave Certain people are determined to put him out to pasture already.
The performance at WBA was splendid and I'm trying hard not to get too carried away. There were times in the second half - particularly on the right touchline where you didn't have too look but LISTEN to crisp, sharp and accurate passing. It really reminded me of the 'glory' tems.
http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/latest-news/free-21-passes-for-reds-fifth Build up for Gerrard goal v Norwich. 21 passes, started by winning the ball, moving down the left, coming across to the right, then back, then Allen gets the ball, drops the shoulder round 1 player, to Gerrard who plays the incisive pass to Sterling. Excellent football and I'm liking the free videos of thse goals that LFC are providing. Just shows BR is getting his philosphy across - can't think too many tims in recent years we would have done that. Also don't think the ball left the ground once
If were going to continue creating chances and scoring goals like the WBA and Norwich efforts then it may not be a bad idea. Forensically analysing goals like that is beautiful to watch.
It was good. BR's style is started to be implemented. However there is a good example around 50s or so into the film where I feel we still need to improve a touch. Allen receives the ball and a couple of people who could receive it try to make runs forward instead of being available for a pass (if only one does it, he still has a pass on), forcing Allen to run across the pitch to try and find a pass forward. We do need to go forward, but not at the expense of losing possession in a silly manner. Luckily Allen was as composed as ever. So no worries. Good pass from Gerrard and great take by Sterling -- they combined very well for the goal.
