CAFC Tust - opinions...

  1. Potential anti owners agenda?

  2. It seems to be the Political wing of CL?

  3. Conflict of interset with present supporters clubs?

  4. The Trust will have no money, so what's the point?

  5. Not sure about the intentions of the management? Ego trippers?

  6. Just not interested in this sort of thing

  7. I actually support the forming of the Trust

It seems from my last poll that 100% of not606ers are not interested in the CAFC Trust, just in case somebody from the interim Trust management looks at this site it may be helpful if we could tell them why.

This is a private poll so nobody will know your name :)

This should not be taken as an anti Trust thread, as I said last time I have no opinions either way at this stage of their development.

    So comments pls.

    <cheers>

    Greetings from Malta.

I have no interest because I don't believe a word that comes out of their mouths, don't think they have much of an idea from posts written (lack of direction), and the only reason it was pursued was because a select few thought the club was going bust.. When it wasn't.

I've kept an eye on it, but they seem to recruit with a style that is consistent of a cult. They take over threads and use fear as a mean for why the cult(sorry, trust) should be followed. Pedantic postings won't endear them to anyone either. A style which seems to suggest they know more than the average joe, and for that reason we should listen. It's nonsense.

They say it has no association to what happened over the summer- yet lets go back to the original post which was on either the varney or kavanagh out thread where the interim chair first mentions starting a trust.

And Why do the trust have to know what happens? Because a few chums have left and they haven't received the answers as to why? Maybe it's because I'm still backing the board, but I just think its out of nosiness and kudos why this(!!) trust has been created.

The whole thing could have been handled better, so for this reason- I'm out.

I might have been interested any time during the last 3 years of the Murray regime when it was obvious from the yearly published accounts that we were nosediving rapidly. Oddly enough there was a lot of complacency around then, but the situation now may be a bit of a mystery but I'm less worried now than I was then.

You couldn't be more wrong Super, the Supporters club is for all Supporters,it is not a private club or a clique and in Barnie,he is a fair and good interim chair. This was posted on CL and it explains it better than me.

Longer term we would like the Trust to positively and actively engage with the Club to find ways to achieve our main aim, while representing the views of fans as an independent, inclusive, democratic organisation with close links to our local and remote community.
Our immediate goal is to generate enough interest and hopefully support for the idea of the Trust so we can get to that first objective of signed up members to participate in an AGM, while putting all the mechanisms such as membership and website into place to allow this to happen.
I feel that anything beyond that will be the remit of the post AGM board, remember we are an interim steering group, I would not wish to bind the people who take up the elected positions.
As for why we need a Trust, I believe it is important that as stakeholders, we fans have an independent voice concerning the running of our beloved club. We were priveleged to have this in the past, however this has changed as has the overall climate in football. There are key questions of sustainability which I believe will become more an more prevalent in coming years, that will require new models of ownership.
I believe it is time for our fans to become more active in safeguarding the future of our Club, no one else is going to do this for us.

Because everybody I've seen that posts supporting it, has done so by ridiculing others that did not.

It's funny how they didn't want to save the club when we knew it was in trouble, but now that a certain few people have been removed from positions we need to "safeguard our future". Just seems like trying to demand power, when we have no right to do so.

Also there's the small issue of me not being able to afford to even attend matches, let alone contribute to a trust.

Edit: Might be better to change the poll to allow more than one option. I feel a lot of people will want to click most of those listed.

The Board haven't really given me any reason to panic

Fiar enough we don't know where the Money is coming from and Slater may just be a puppet and a front for a foreign owner - but that's all gossip

I've said it before, but since their takeover, the board have:

-Saved our club from almost certain administration when nobody else would.
-Fixed our big screen which was a source of ridicule at times
-Appointed a club legend as our manager
-Signed BWP who went on to become our top league goalscorer for 12 years
-Given our manager the freedom of the transfer market and funds to sign about 30 players
-Consequently, those players took us to the League One title at the first time of asking, with the most points we've ever had in a season, and breaking dozens of club and league records.
-As a consequence, stopping our 7 season long fall down the divisions, bringing about what for many young fans is the most successful season they've ever had as an Addick, bringing in a positive team spirit, managers and players the fans could identify with, giving us sufficient reason to be proud to be Addicks fans.

The only thing that's gone against them are internet rumours.

We should be setting up a shrine to the board, and naming our children after them, not setting up a 'Supporters Trust' to try and de-stabilise the whole regime.

    This.

And it will become a ''clique''. You think an average Joe who has heard about it on the radio/word of mouth etc will have any other role to play other than a sheep? They will keep all positions above ''member'' to a few selected friends.

A mate of mine is involved in the Supporters trust at Stockport County, and has always been puzzled to why we didn't have one. Particularly with our history.

I think a supporters trust is a good idea, it's more legit than a supporters club, and has the potential to take real action in times of crisis.

Unfortunately, I am suspicious about Charlton Life.

I'm an average fan that has no insider knowledge of the club. All I know is I love to go and watch the team i've supported since I started going to The Valley with my Saturday league football team.

I have no idea whether there was a "crisis" at the club this summer or not. What makes me feel uneasy is reading all sorts of rumours which are cryptically (but very eloquently) worded. As a sheep I get easily confused!

I'll leave it there. I'm off work so i'll be heading to The Valley tonight. Despite the injury list i'm really looking forward to it, both us and Watford are in similarly inconsistent form right now so it should be a good one.
