There was a call to appoint Scot after Paul Lambert but we got Peter Taylor. (Scot had little manager experience)
We was hoping for promotion so the club was safe we got the promotion. Peter Taylor was sacked again Scot applied and was turned down we ended we up with Waddock. And went down. But up the folowing year.Waddock is now gone and Keith Scot wants the job. So will he get it this time?? I hope so but I doubt it. SCOT IF YOU DON’T GET THE JOB THIS TIME THEN YOULL NEVER GET IT MATE. AND WE WILL ALWAYS WONDER WHAT WOULD HAVE BEEN!!!

Im sorry but I really dont get this piece. Am I missing something? You seem to be suggesting that Keith Scott should be given a crack at managing WWFC simply because he has applied for it many times in the last few years........

If that is to become standard, Ill start photocopying my C.V now!!

What I think you are saying is that Keith Scott should be given a go. I started watching Wycombe just before Scott came to us so I have extremely fond memories of seeing him, Guppy, West etc waltzing through other teams defences and helping turn Wycombe into a great team to watch. No doubt about it, the guy is a Wycombe legend and I am sure he has some kind of future at our club. That fact remains though, that his managerial experience is limited and he would be a risk at what is a dangerous time for our club. Im not saying he would fail (see other threads) but no one can say his appointment wouldnt be a gamble.

What's happening with Rhino these days? Did he ever venture into football management?

Rhino is out of football at the moment running a business laying floors with his brother. Think he was a bit disillusioned with coaching after Warnock replaced him at QPR with his mates. My mum spoke to Rhino shortly after it happened and Warnock's words were, "I am sure you are a better coach but I'm bringing my mates in!"

The point is he has got some experience as a manager. And every time he expresses an intrest there Is always an excuse. You can eather manage or you can't to use the position of the club not to give him a crak is wrong. Why not a Scot and Ainsworth management team? But I do however trust the board in there decision.

There's a big differance between managing in part-time leagues to full-time League 2.I understand experience comes with time but can we afford to wait for somone to take to managing a Football league side and all it entails?

If we are thinking about relatively inexperienced former blues legends, then how about getting Martin O'Neill to sack Steve Guppy from his coaching staff, and then he'd be available..

The fact is Wycombe are a mess, not because they're not playing without committment, as I still think the players wanted it on Saturday despite the performance, but because no-one knows each other in the team and they're playing a formation they don't understand. We need a manager to come in and bring in players who will understand what they're trying to acheive and also make the existing players gel together. Football isn't just about which manager is the most passionate, if is was we'd see Stoke and Wigan winning the PL and Dalglish would have been a runaway success.

Keith Scott may turn out to be a good manager in the future, but it's undeniable that it's an almighty risk employing him given his inexperience.

Excellent post - Im sure Scotty would stand there and give rousing team talks and his appointment would undoubtedly please supporters in the short term. BUT that would not be enough to sort out the problems on the pitch. Yes he has experience but, as mentioned above, there is a massive difference between part time Windsor and Eton and LG 2 (possible) relegation scrap.

Id personally like to have the best of both worlds - maybe Laws with Scott/Brownie/Rhino as his assistant.

I'm not a fan of bringing in former players as managers unless they're proven. It rarely works after the initial lift it gives the fans. We need to make an appointment which is in the best interests of the football side of things, not just to keep nostalgic fans happy. Scott as manager is a risk that we can't afford to take at the moment, but if the club want to bring him in and learn the ropes under a more experienced manager then that might work long term.

Yeah you're right trueblue, we need to get behind the trust's decision and back whoever comes in. I hate it when managers get stick before they've even had a chance, despite who they've replaced or what their history is.

One things for sure - Id rather be bottom half of the table with a new manager than have a criminal making the decisions.
