QPR’s “Sparkless” start to season sees Hughes made a favourite in the Premier League Sack Race
Posted by Cathal Breathnach on September 26, 2012 | No Comments

Queens Park Rangers might well have the luxury of being owned by one of the richest families in the world but those same owners must be raising their eyebrows at the start their team has made to the Premier League season under manager, Mark Hughes.

After spending close on £20million on players in the Summer, Hughes, or “Sparkly” as he affectionately became known as a player, has seen a return on his invest of three defeats and two draws from the first five games of the season and still without a win, his team that sits one place off the bottom of the Premier League. Even his predecessor, Neil Warnock, had guided Rangers to two wins by this stage last year but was still sacked before Christmas and replaced by Hughes.

Hughes has brought in Jose Bosingwa, Ji-Sung Park, Robert Green, Junior Hoilett, Ryan Nelsen and Andrew Johnson. If one adds Kieron Dyer, Luke Young, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Anton Ferdinand, Nedum Onuoha, Djibril Cissé and Bobby Zamora to the squad, all signed since promotion 12 months ago, then Hughes should have no excuses for his team’s poor start to the season.

To make matters worse for the club, the new arrivals have been handed lucrative contracts and very few have much in the way of re-sale potential. It would seem therefore, that QPR, despite being steeped in business acumen at board level, are on a “hiding to nothing” on and off the pitch.

After losing 5-0 at home to Swansea in the opening game and an away draw at Norwich, August was a month to forget for Hughes. September however, has been just as bad, with defeats away at Man City and Spurs, although they did manage a respectable point at home against Chelsea.

October now looms large and Hughes knows that he must turn around the team’s fortunes pretty quick if he is to avoid becoming the first managerial causality in the Premier League, for which he’s currently second favourite behind Southampton boss, Nigel Adkins, in the Sack Race. Two home games including West Ham on Monday and Everton two weeks later could be key to the future of the former Wales, Blackburn and Man City boss with away games at West Brom and Arsenal. As it stands, two points from five game is simply unacceptable and it has to be thought that anything less than eight from nine games come the end of October and Hughes could be on his way out of Loftus Road.

This person has probably never seen us play, but has probably most of the raw material right. I still think Hughes has until after the Southampton game mid-November to get us moving away from the bottom 3, that is 7 more games and only 1 of them against a team (arsenal) few will expect us to beat on paper. If we are still in the bottom 3 then, I'm not sure TF will stay patient.

This guy is talking a load of Bollox! ;)
For one, I think that Nigel Adkins will be given a LOT of Slack by Southampton, as he's guided them to 2 promotions in a row.

Secondly, expecting to beat Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester City is nigh on madness. All right, I accept losing to Swansea in the way we did WAS unacceptable, however, that blame can be laid on BOTH the players and the manager. The draw against Norwich was still in recovery from the Swansea game.
We also have had injuries ALREADY, and players still to come back in... (Mbia, Taraabt, Traore, e.t.c)

Again. This guy is an utter clown.

Queens Park Rangers might well have the luxury of being owned by one of the richest families in the world... WRONG
After spending close on £20million on players in the Summer... WRONG
Hughes, or “Sparkly” as he affectionately became known as a player... WRONG (he's not a ****ing fairy)
Neil Warnock, was still sacked before Christmas and replaced by Hughes...WRONG

Hughes has brought in - (names 13 players) continues - then Hughes should have no excuses for his team’s poor start to the season

Other than the fact that he's signed 13 new players...

To make matters worse for the club, the new arrivals have been handed lucrative contracts - Have they? this guy must really know his **** if he's privy to their contact terms...

After losing 5-0 at home to Swansea in the opening game and an away draw at Norwich, August was a month to forget for Hughes. September however, has been just as bad, with defeats away at Man City and Spurs,

Apparently defeats away at Spurs and Man city are just as bad as losing at home to Swansea... WTF!

October now looms large - OK he's got this bit right

Two home games including West Ham on Monday and Everton two weeks later... it more like 3 weeks but never mind

it has to be thought that anything less than eight from nine games come the end of October and Hughes could be on his way out of Loftus Road. - so we have to beat West ham and either West brom away, Everton at Home or Arsenal away or 'Sparkly' get his lights turn off eh, I'm glad this guys not my boss.

What a ****er - who is he?

Can't argue with any of that. If Cathal Breathnach, whoever he/she/it is wanted to add a bit of weight to the headline they should of mentioned Hughes's away record. Two points from a possible thirty six on the road? Oh well mustn't grumble, it will come good soon.

Pre-match meal and then I'm off to HQ to cheer on Sparkly and his boys.

Come on U R's !!!!!
