Coventry manager mentioned the 6 man rule...not sure what he meant but sounded like you had to play at least 6 players that play in the league games. Looked up rules, but that just said you had to play the best team available or there could be disciplinary action. PL teams don't usually play their first team players at this stage, so suspect its the ideal but most managers bend the rules.
That would presumably be the plan. Lallana and Lambert will probably be rested, so without Ramirez, we'd be counting on the creative influences of Guly, Chaplow or Reeves. Maybe we could use JWP as a makeshift playmaker, but I wouldn't be confident of creating much. Wednesday will get men behind the ball to defend, so we'll need some ideas to get through them. Wednesday prefer a 442, so they will leave gaps in the midfield and we have a good chance of getting the win if we exploit them.
Sheffield Wednesday team: Bywater; Lee, Llera, Beevers, Jones; Antonio, Corry, Semedo, Pecnik; Maguire, Madine. Subs were wrong - deleted so as not to mislead anyone reading back.
I'd forgotten Michail Antonio is an Owl now. Nice to see him starting today, getting game time, and hopefully he'll get a good reception from the Saints fans
Not sure who is in goal, but it sure isn't Kelvin. Seaborne is set to play left-back. (I know it confused me too...)
Saw Fonte in west quay at lunch....obviously this means nothing several hours before a home match but think he may well be rested. I'm pretty ignorant to the Sheffield Wednesday 1st XI, have they made changes too?
How do you know that ? Is it reported the team yet ? Seaborne, He is left footed so must be chosen for a reason ? Luke Shaw struggled abit last time in the cup & has been ill . Adkins wants to win this so hoping for the rest to be a strong line up.
It's just what I'm told. I'm as in the dark as you until the teamsheet arrives - but if I hear of something I post it.
It's great hearing snippets before the game on whose playing. Just thought the team had been released. Cheers mate always good to read your posts
