This is the worst Town team in my lifetime and that includes the Mick McGiven team that got relegated back in 94/95 Who's fault is it? Keane and Jewell and ultimately Evans for picking these 2 wasters in the first place. Lets hope its 3rd time lucky with his next appointment!
IF someone else is being / is already lined up then the decent thing to do would be to put Jewell, the players and the fans out of their misery. Paul Jewell is more than a decent man and it's crystal clear he is hurt by this, he needs to go but he also deserves respect. He certainly didn't take Ipswich on at a good time.
To be fair Yorkie no manager ever takes over at any football club at a good time! Its a bit like being a politician all their careers end up in failure!
"It’s not nice, it’s a horrendous position to be in at the moment, second bottom of the league, but what can I do?" [sic] Well go figure!
To be JWM he was talking about the speculation to his job, he cant do anything to stop people speculating.
Mike's right. That was in answer to the question about Marcus Evans changing the manager. Always the problem with print media... TWTD generally gives context but EADT dramatises things.
Agree Lancs, I don't like how ME seems to make a decision on a manager but keeps them on a little longer whilst he finds a replacement. There's nothing wrong with being prepared for a change of manager especially but to make a decision but leave the guy in charge and go behind his back I do not like!!! I thought the whole Magilton situation was not handled very well by many people, he didn't get the respect he deserved after serving this club for many years!! Although Jewell has his flaws he has done everything at the club in the correct way despite abuse from fans and he never shys away from criticism!! And I agree with Lancs I think PJ took over the club at the worst possible time of any manager really considering the circumstances!!
The Magilton thing was terrible given that he was a bonafide playing hero at the club. I'm sure we'd be in the top flight by now under his stewardship. His playing mates have moved on now and that was his downfall, time to give him another crack of the whip maybe.
That was the first time I have ever been ashamed to be a Town fan towards the end of Jims reign. The press turned on him and were so negative, I'll never forget the boos aswell for one game in particular where they were chanting 'Magilton Out' etc and booing the players it was clearly having a negative effect on the team. I couldn't believe it, such a great player for us and a loyal servant and he was being hounded out of the club. Certainly a case of be careful what you wish for on behalf of many people at the club and the fans, something which appears to have bitten us many times since!! I think one of the biggest negatives of the ME era is the management of expectations by both managers and fans alike!! I don't think Jim would be the right move to come back here, we move on. If he'd gone to the lower leagues and had success maybe but he hasn't really had much success elsewhere despite a promising start at QPR!! I think he's certainly got the ability to be a good manager but question marks over his temperament, I think it's similar situation to Di Canio!! Paul Tisdale all the way for me!!!
as always ,warky you are right mc carthy for the job but would he take it ? as the club is in an all time mess.
I think the only reason Marcus is giving him more time is because he can't find a decent replacement yet, at least I hope that's the reason.
I was just thinking that when Jewell gets the boot is ME/Clegg going to put Hutchings in charge as caretaker? Loach, ALB, Cresswell, Whight, Chambers, Edwards, Hewitt, JET, Martin, Scotland & Klug & Osman - Keep Smith, Ainsley Hyam, Carson, Drury, Chopra, Murray, Murphy, Ellington, Jewell, Hutchings, Clegg - Not good enough N'Daw, Kourmora, Taylor - unable to judge We are an absolute clusterfuck of a football club. DO SOMETHING EVANS YOU PRICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BM I usually agree with you but why do you want to get rid of Hyam? I mean for **** sake he can't get a game as it is so how can we really judge if he's good enough! And you would want to keep JET! **** me he left the club months ago cos he sure don't turn up on matchdays!
have to disagree with a couple of those. I would keep Hyam & Drury. JET is impossible to figure out. When he plays at his best, he is potentially 1 of the best players in the division. Unfortunately, he is only at his best for 1 game in about 10.
Can I ask how Whight and Hewitt are both on your keep list rather than unable to judge? Personally I would keep half of your not good enough players and get rid of some of your must keep aswell but each to their own on that as we have all seen them play.
Just a thought , but a certain Mr S Dyche is still available , did very well for Watford on no money , before pozzos sacked him to make way for Zola. I think the Ginger exhaust muncher would have ITFC working well .
Mr Monkey, I think you have to keep all the players and see who the new manager can get the best out of. We don't have any incapable players just badly managed ones. Tommy Smith makes lots of mistakes and that's not about his ability, it's about coaching percentages and instilling confidence.
