Interesting point. Would class Richardson as outside first team, Gazzaniga needs games to prove himself, and Guly has gone from straight on team sheet to just outside the first team. I'm sure the players selected will be good, but it's not the same as the first team who are used to each other. Can't see Lallana or Lambert playing which will leave two important holes in the team.

Not sure who sets ticket price...think teams have to agree but there may also be minimum/maximums set by competition. £15 may be dear for some, but suspect that NC considers that reasonable for PL v Championship match.

It's only £15, much cheaper than league games, even our L1 leage games! As I said above, I managed to pop down to the ticket office at lunch so I could pay in cash and even avoid the booking fees. How much cheaper would you go?
Say we get a 10-12k crowd from those ticket sales, the club has to open up the stadium and have it fully staffed and pay all the costs associated with that, as well as hopefully turn a bit of a profit. With such a low gate I'm not sure that the club can afford to go all that much lower than £15 and still make money from the game.

Also as it's a cup game half of the gate takings have to go to the away club (something like that), so the prices have to be mutually agreed. So Sheff Wed would not want to go too low because they would be getting less money.

I believe that the opposition get a share of gate as well, unlike league games.

Yeah agreed with you. Not sure if you could go much lower but would £10 be too low to still make a profit.
Then with the increase in numbers it might attract would that bridge the gap ? Yeah fair point not sure.
Just would love games like this to attract more people for the fuller atmosphere.

Like others have said, think the gate is shared, so lots of factors come into play.

Love the atmosphere at St Mary's league

This team might be a bit weak but I just wanted to play with this footballformation thingy since I've seen other use it :p

I'd like to see Mayuka and Lee involved, possibly from the start. Still don't think we've had anything official either way about Lee, so going to assume and hope that he's fine. I think Rodriguez needs to play the full game if possible.

Yes, I heard that figure quoted too, it's not a wallet breaker and I guess the away end will be fairly empty. I wonder why we have so many part time supporters, is it a Premier thing?

Whoops. Cheers Qwerty! I did know that so not sure why I put him in there...a few months since I've finished education and already my head is going to mush, not good!
Well in that case Seaborne and Hoover if he's fit, if not Seaborne and Fonte. Either that or stick with Fonte and Yoshi but I'd like to see Seaborne have another go, especially if we end up needing him at some stage.

    [h=1]Adkins to give others a chance[/h]Southampton, 13:04, September 25, 2012
Boss Nigel Adkins will field a youthful line-up against Sheffield Wednesday, but Southampton are taking the Capital One Cup seriously.
The Saints cruised past League One outfit Stevenage in the second round, with the likes of Jake Sinclair, Sam Hoskins, Corby Moore and Ben Reeves involved in the squad.
Highly-rated academy product Luke Shaw could feature at left back while Danny Butterfield and Danny Seaborne are also in line to feature in defence.
Paolo Gazzaniga may continue in goal, although Adkins could hand Artur Boruc his debut or recall Kelvin Davis.
Richard Chaplow, Steve De Ridder and Guly Do Prado are in contention in midfield while Jay Rodriguez and Zambian striker Emmanuel Mayuka could get the nod to start up front.

Maybe Richardson at CB again if Nigel wants to rest Jose and Maya.

Ramirez is a striker's wet dream. Rodriguez, Mayuka, Hoskins and Sinclair can all make runs and find the net, so if we give them the service, we've got goals in us. I assume Lambert and Lallana will be rested/benched? Having Ramirez in the side would make the team far better. By bringing Ramirez in, you take Chaplow or Guly out, so it's not like we'd be depriving any young kids. If anything it woul give them a better chance to impress against a reasonable Wednesday side.

It woul benefit Ramirez too to run himself into the team. We can always take him off if we want to save him for Saturday.

If Ramirez starts I can see us scoring 5+. He will tear apart a Championship defence with ease.

Would love to see Ramirez, but can't see it I'm afraid. Adkins is clear what he can do and seems to be fit, so I reckon he will be saved for Everton.

I'd like to see us do well in the COC <laugh>, but I also don't want us to do badly and not win enough games in the Premier League.

It would be great to get to the final of the league cup and imagine if we were to play Chelsea or Man City, for example, and we lost we'd qualify for Europe which would be fantastic.

There's such a thing as a winning momentum. A good cup run can lift the spirits when times are tough. I think cup games should be taken seriously with just a few changes to give others a run out.
