Holt for me. Not exactly controversial, but what can I say? Great leader who's cut the mustard in this league when most said he wouldn't. A great leader on the pitch who always gives everything. The amount of abuse he's been afforded on these and other boards is merely an indicator of how good he's been. Fact is, they'd all love to have him in their team. So many others are worthy of a mention, but I'm sticking with one. I've edited this just to add that when i said most thought he'd fail, i was talking mainly about non-NCFC fans (although there were a few of those too!)
Other and only 10 listed names? Hoadie, I am disapointed, could have done some research and list all the players, as they have all made such a huge contribution to what has been an excellent team this season. The obvious choice I guess has to be Grant Holt, although Hoolihan has been so instrumental in controlling the midfield on most occassions. Jacko might get some votes if he appears to single handedly nick the 2nd auto spot with all his goals but overall throughout the season it has to be Holty
holty has obviously been immense but for me i have voted for r.martin, our ever present. yesterdays performance swung it for me, he seemed determined to beat derby singlehanded at the end.
I voted Holt. Captain, leader, tonnes of goals, tonnes of assists, works his socks off and a great guy with loads of personality. Plus, he scored 3 goals against the scum...
I have been training with the BBC moderators and I'm telling you all now, if you don't vote for John Ruddy then you are all going to be barred
That's a good shout Dave. Considering some of the stick he received at the start of the season, and how he's got stuck in an worked extremely hard. Can't really think of anyone who doesn't deserve it this year, so my vote would havae to be for PL and all. Simples!!
Even though, theres an amazing amount of contenders this year for pots, I have to say, over the course of the season, Grant Holt edges it. I remember last year when certain supporters of a blue disposition were bleating that Holt wouldn't cut it in this league, and that Scotland would score more. Holt has demonstrated that he can take the step up to championship level and keep on scoring freely. It seems as though, as captain of the team, his presence gives the whole team a noticeable boost - we saw what the effects were without him in that Reading game. Quite simply, without him, we wouldn't be up in this position in the table (or even in this league) with a chance of promotion. He's not just a man, he's not just a footballer, he has proven himself to be the making of a legend.
I voted Crofts as he has been great all season, I would not vote Jackson as it is what it says above which is player of the year and he has only been great of late, I know he has been very exceptional lately and could get you the Auto place by himself, But all season it has been the likes of Holt, Crofts and Hoolahan who have done it for you.
I've gone for Russell Martin. He's played every minute of every game this season. He's been consistent and hasn't really had a bad game all season. HIs defending has been top notch, his attacking has improved no end and he's chipped in with five or six goals as well.
I'm a huge fan of Russ, think he is the one that will get overlooked for our incredible performance this season. No doubt that HOLT is this seasons player of the season, no doubt whatsoever, however we surely have to thank Russ, Wes and also Lanners. Lansbury has come on as a sub and influenced so many games. It reminds me a little of when Bentley had a spell with us, the better crossing at this level makes such an impact, especially when we have Holt to get on the end of it!!
My prediction for who will win the awards: 1st - Grant Holt 2nd - Russ Martin 3rd - Wes Hoolahan Although I reckon Crofts will run Hoolahan pretty close for 3rd
Has to Be the team as they have played for each other this season. No one stands out more than the other. But if I have to pick one Russel Martin been in every game this season and has looked fantastic for us. And with some great goals.
I actually see what you mean, Your team shows something that many don't show and that is commitment and well and truly top team work.
