I wanted to share this idea as I think it's a good one and will save things being messy on the board. Would it be possible, whenever there is a QPR game, that only one pre-match thread be made and only one post-match thread be made, by a moderator.

The reason I suggest this is because, through each game that comes along, multiple threads are made before and after and this means that we're all split up into the different threads that we've chosen to do our posting in. If we had one official pre-match thread and one official post-match thread, we'd all be contributing to the same discussion.

These threads could be made into "stickies" and a few days after the game or when the next pre-match thread needs to be made, they can be "unstickied".

Disagree. A single thread quickly gets to be several pages long which means that good points can go missing for those of us who do not have the luxury of spending ever second of here. I also do no like the whole idea of 'stickies': the best threads always filter to the top through sheer participation.

Thought about that many times. It means a mod being around throughout match days, especially the aftermath. That can't be guaranteed for a number of reasons (including my sulking session when we lose!).

It's just one of the reasons we believe the board lives or dies on the willingness of its posters to self-moderate to ensure sense. Why OP's can't check what similar thread titles have been posted before they press 'send' on their own little masterpieces, beats me. (Doesn't take much to open a second screen to see what's gone up in the meantime.)

If people can't be arsed to think what they're doing, why should mods have to clean up the mess? If we did it once, it'd become expected of us and bad practices would get even worse.

Water has to find its own level. The last thing any of us need is a mod-driven board (mod state).

I think that's a great idea. I think they do it on other Boards.
People seem to start threads out of fear that their point won't be heard. That's the only reason I can think of for multiple post-game threads popping up.

The OP is right. The Board becomes a right mess post game.

Diffrent people see and have diffrent issues about & at a game..no way you could incorporate all of these into 1 thread...driven by Nazi mods,,!

Really hope this doesnt happen as when us int fans wanna commentit aint gonna fit in wth "your" thread....

    NO NO NO from me...but

Disagree totally. Different threads give posters the chance to reflect on the game in different ways. One thread would make it impossible to sift through and make comments on certain points.

    A definite no from me.

    Good point awjm.

Too many threads affects continuity imo. I can't remember what was posted where, when and by whom. Maybe we should have a pre-match thread. A during match thread and two-three after game threads relating to salient points.

What really does grip my *hit, is people who chain gang an already existing original good thread by posting up another one on the existing same subject. l shall hi-light it when it next happens.

You have been warned, thread snatchers. You know who you are!

Cross-board threads was a site initiative which ended up turning to **** elsewhere - and the facility was subsequently removed by the site owner.

Agree, we need just one match thread. Pre and post arent as important but we dont need threads for every goal or event in a game.

I disagree but respect the idea...........A match thread yes but i enjoy reading some of the different opinions after a match in the various post match assessments. Good idea but no thanks.

That is very funny Brix. I'm not actually sure that they know that they do it either. Even the slighest nuance in the heat of battle is worthy of a new thread. So it seems.

Self-moderation is the key. It's not necessary to start a new thread giving us your personal view of the Spurs game when five exist.

Agree Nines. Nauseating. Tend to post a brief response just after the game - and then await Judo and Col's reports to see if I've anything sensible to add.

And nauseatingly your spot on synopsis supressess any further debate... :emoticon-0117-talki...Lol

Perhaps we need an additional mod who can't get to every game, to monitor the in-game banter and can merge threads as need be.

We have many followers from this world of Rs. Norway, Oslo, Maple, Swords, QL etc..... ( My Sincerest of apologies to those I have left out. )
