There's been no news recently on any emergency loans.

It seems that Brucey was after Meyler, but he's no longer available. With Evans looking a bit iffy recently, McKenna getting banned and not even making the bench on Sunday, Oli regularly being injured and Cairney being a long term absentee, do we assume we're still looking to bring someone in?

We've had barely any central midfield options on the bench for the past few weeks, so I'd suggest we're still looking a potential options.

I thought we'd be looking at striking options too, but with an improved Simpson, Prossy looking like he's getting his act together and Fryatt back in training, it seems less likely.

    Thoughts?

I think the midfielder is important. Oli has done well when he's played but he hasn't yet proved this isn't just another false dawn for him and that this time he's actually going to stay fit and keep his place. It's well known that I'm not a big Evans fan. I'd have liked to see us get Meyler and I imagine Bruce is looking at alternative targets to add a bit of strength to the midfield.

I agree with the concerns over the centre of midfield, would be worth looking at taking an out of favour CM from the Premier League on loan to give us more options. I don't see much more other than that.

I would hope so, but at this stage of proceedings I fear you only end up fishing around in a limited pool, scrapping for whoever's available as opposed to who you actually want.

CM is clearly the main problem area for me - forwards as you say OLM not a problem and the same can be said for our defence.

We do lack a mean bugger though and its been our achilles heel since Ash went.

What annoys me is that in pre-season signings seem to be delayed because there is always time after the season starts to do your transfers, then it gets to deadline day and people say don't worry there is the loan window, then when it comes to the loan window we say there's no bugger left. So why didn't we sign someone before?!

Watson at Wigan Athletic would be a decent signing - he was also signed by Bruce when he was Wigan manager I think?

Has that Reo-Coker ****wit found a club yet?

Or is he still too busy turning down clubs he thinks he's too good for, yet getting turned down himself by clubs that actually have standards?

I do wish we at least had a rumor to go off. I like at least having the prospect of someone coming in. Maybe I will put some ridiculous rumor on football rumors just to get someones hopes up.

So we need midfielder and we need pro to start playing like a pro. It is simple. Sign Ballack he is a free, he is a midfielder, and he is german, which might help pro find his feet in english football.

Takes Bolton up on his relegation release clause because he thinks he's too good for the Championship.

I hope he does go to Charlton, that'd be ****ing hilarious. Twat.

I just think he represents all that is loathsome about the modern footballer.

He obviously didn't fancy the Championship, that's why he exercised the clause in his contract to get out at Bolton.

He must have seen himself as the 'star' of that relegation team or something, and expected the offers to flood in from the Prem.

And then they didn't. Championship teams looked at him instead. And he turned them all down.

Still no Prem teams, and now the decent Championship teams are either sorted in his position, or presumably think he's that much of a prissy **** that he's not worth bothering again with. Some teams will have dignity.

So now, he has to stare down the barrel and prove he ACTUALLY wants to play football (you know, his career) and go to a team that's actually at his level.

Step up Charlton (no disrespect to them), but I doubt it's the gig he originally wanted.

There's no other reason, for me, that he's missed so much football at the start of this season, other than pure arrogance.

The bloke's a prick, and I hope he ends up on the bench at Charlton. His ego will explode, with hilarious consequences.

I think this happens sometimes when players are lauded beyond all reasonable level when they have one or two decent games at England U-21 level. His ego was massaged early. Now look at the **** we've got on our hands.

    Doesn't impress me.

Bruce is looking at Simon Walton, think he's just the bone breaking midfielder we need.

With gates the way they are and the team performing very well, I would assume that the Allams have put a break on any new signings. We are at home to Peterboro on Sat, hardly an enticing fixture given their record. I would like to think that we may have enticed a few to return especially with that offer that is current. But I have my doubts. For whatever reason, and there have been lots of thoughts on it, I can see this being the lowest gate of the season. Then the alarms beels will start ringing.
